How do you reset the change engine oil warning

Ours is a 2005 National Dolphin. W22 Chassis with 8.1 GM Vortec engine. Dash has trip computer that show's, avg mpg, inst mpg, distance to empty, avg speed, etc. Warning across window says "change engine oil" It's already been changed.

Does anyone know how to permanently reset the warning? Pressing odo reset will reset it while running, but it comes back on after an engine shut down and restart.

Cannot find anything in any manuals that came with motorhome, or that I've downloaded and I've checked them all.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the redundant post folks. Apparently someone else had the same question and posted in 2006.

The answer they received was: ignition on, fully press and release accelerator 3 times within 5 seconds. Engine off for at least 10 seconds. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll resent the check engine light too, that came on when spark plug wire worked it's way loose. I've got a feeling on that though, it's going to be by a code reader with reset feature or pay someone at a garage to do it.

That is the correct way to reset both engine light and other messages. Really high tech, right? I had the same problem. Good luck.

Wolfpack Fan, try disconnecting the chassis battery at the negative cable for a minute or so. Sometimes this will put the check engine light out. Worth a try.

If the problem that caused the check engine light does not manifest again, after repeated no-fault starts the DTC will clear itself.

Went to Harbor Freight today and got an OBDII scan tool. On sale for $40 off, normally $120. Checked code on mh and it was electrical, though I don't recall the exact code. It came on when spark plug wire came lose, so it made sense. Cleared the code with the scanner and it's fine now. We'll see if it comes back on tomorrow on our way to our favorite lake for camping. Also used it to check my Tundra, that has it coming on intermittent. Gave me a code for catalyst. Hope it not one of the cats it's got. I've heard they're pricey. Cleared the code. We'll see how long it stays clear. Seems to go off when the tank level is low. I figure using it on the mh and Tundra paid for itself in one afternoon.

Used the triple mash on the gas pedal and the change oil warning is out.

It's a happy day!!!

Update. Reset code, drove 90 miles to regular favoroite campground. No check engine light & ran perfect. Pulled grades at 50 mph that were previously done at 40. I think the 2400 mile trip with a little mmo helped the engine get a little happier. Probably cleaned injectors a little.
