My Workhorse brake recall and Norcold recall part deux repairs are scheduled for next Monday. Bought the MH end of August last year and took 2 trips with it so far with no brake issues. 13K miles on the MH.

Took our first trip this year last weekend and guess what happened???
Yup! TST tire temp alarm! Driver side front caliper seized!
Was on the way to a short 100mi long weekend trip.
Several ironies....
... Recall scheduled to be done next week.
... Issue started within 15 miles of my dealership where I will be having the recall done.

Could feel the caliper issue start as a pull when braking. Caliper seemed to free up a bit until I applied medium braking.
Was able to limp to dealer. But they were too busy to take me in. They sent me to a truck repair shop 2 miles away that was kind enough to take me in after a short wait. Good thing it was a weekday. They were able to free up and lubricate the sticking caliper pistons. Caliper slides were OK, pads and rotor still OK. They checked the passenger side and it was fine. Proceeded to continue to camp trip and also made it back home no issues.
Love having the temp feature on the tire pressure system. Even though it was 50+ degrees cooler then what my hand held temp gauge read for my rotor, 160 vs 220+, it still showed a significant difference over the other tires which read about 86 at the time.

Still a fun trip overall.

Would be better if you joined the former WH caliper problem club. Git er done!

TST temps measure the air in the region of the valve stem. I'm sure the IR gun meters the metal more than a narrow target in the valve stem. That's what I expect is the difference.

I'm delighted to hear that the TST system gave you an alarm-.

That's exactly the reason I bought their product. I never did have an issue with my brakes. My second brake recall was completed last October.

Good luck,

Yes, I like having the peace of mind knowing the TST TPMS system has a chance of catching a brake temp issue. I knew the temps read through the valve stem would be no where near as hot as what the rotors or calipers would see in a sticking issue but I am glad it was enough to set off the alarm.
