The April issue of Motor Home Magazine did a test drive on the Forest River Georgetown 359TS (3 slides) built on the WCC "UFO" chassis. Here are the numbers: The test coach weighed 21,260 lbs, is 37'5" long, averaged 68 MPH, elevation was 2,000' above sea level at 75 degrees F, and averaged 7.8 MPG. This is a brand new coach and therefore the engine was not broken in. I typically drive 60-62 MPH and use 100% synthetic lubricants. I think one could achieve 8.5 MPG once the motor is broken in and the speed is kept in the 60-62 MPH range. What say you? Chuck/Bagman.

If you drive reasonably well and behave with the fuel you should get the MPGs that you are expecting but I would favor an MPG figure of a solid 8.3 MPG.

Why would this unit get better MPG than a W24 unit?

Fred, I don't have any idea what kind of fuel economy a W-24 gets, but we routinely get 8.5 - 9.0 MPH with our 2004 Allegro Bay 37DB W-22, 5 speed Allison, full Banks Power Pack, synthetic lubricants, & no toad. Driving at 60-62 MPH on cc. I think I could do at least 8.5 at 60 MPH with the "UFO". Chuck/Bagman.

You might be able to better compare the W25.5 to the UFO since the UFO has a 6.18 final drive and the W25.5 has a 6.14. Putting both of these units in an MPG test might yield some interesting results.
With gas engines, the way you move weight is through gearing. When you add a 6 speed Allison with its double overdrives and a reduction in driveshaft length the UFO should do very well.
