Hi , my name is Fred and I have a 2006 Terra on a W16 Chassis. It has a 6.0L (LQ4) engine and 4 speed auto trans. I can't say anything bad about this rig as it tows great (with some engine noise when in lower gears), milage is reasonable and with the exception of a loose exhaust system, and a rearend replaced at 2K miles has been trouble free. Since I do not see any posts on the W16/18 chassis or this engine, are there any areas of concern I should be looking for? I have only 6K on the odometer but want to stay ahead of maintenance.
Thanks for any info you might pass on, Fred

Fred, If you go to the workhorse.com website and register your W16/18 on the My Workhorse web resource, you will be able to login and down load the 2009 Workhorse Motorhome Chassis Guide.
You will find that this publication will give you a lot of great insight about what you will need to do to support your RV. The 2nd BEST option would be to come back and visit here on a regular basis and we guarantee that someone will have an answer for you to most any question that you can think of.

Thanks Driver. I am registered and lurk on the forum for several years. I just never seem to see anyone talk aboul W16 chassis, so I guess everybody is as happy as my wife and I are, about theirs. I bought the Workhorse CD with a lot of info and I 'll keep checking the forum for anything new. Fred (oldracer)

Fred,
I have the W16 chassis w/ the 8.1 engine and the 4 speed GM 4L85E trans - no problems to report with the drive train. Just last week turned over 9K miles on the odometer. Tows a Jeep Rubicon just fine even with a small fishing boat behind the Jeep (Tripples are allowed here). The shorter lighter rig allows us to get down the dirt/gravel backroads.

Oldracer,
Can you briefly tell us about "Old" and "Racing" ? Inquiring minds want to know!

Well DriVer, I'm 71 years young and own and race a dragcar. It's slow and paid for. I have been drag racing since 1957 (with the family car). The Terra is used to tow the racecar and a '89 Jeep Wrangler for camping. From where we live I have to climb over 7000 ft passes to get out of my home state and the smaller engine works fine so far. The short length is just fine for the two of us, and fits into more campsites. Bought it new in 2007 (price was right), thus the smaller of two engine options. Thanks for asking, regards, Fred
