It's called "Christmas Tree", a known defect. I think there might be a program update that can fix it. I'm sure Mike or Jon can provide more info.

Mine has done that 4 or 5 times in 46,900 miles.
According to the WH rep at a Winnebago grand National Rally a couple of years ago, the Instrument panel can be re-flashed to fix the problem.

They would have done it for free at the rally but we couldn't get together on a time before the rally was over. Since I know what it is and it occurs so rarely it really doesn't bother me enough to have it fixed.

Last week my fuel gauge and tach stopped working. I turned off and restarted the enginge a couple of time and they came back to life. Is that also the Christmas Tree or some other holiday?

The IP uses some sort of EPROM to contain the firmware (programing) and it is updated during the process so " flashing" is really an update of the firmware.

You have to have the proper set up to do it. I suspect the dealer will have software and a cable to connect a computer to the IP. I don't know if there is a dedicated connector on the IP of if the regular IP connector is used.

If it is the problem we are discussing it only occurs for a few seconds and then everything is back to normal. It rights itself without having to restart the engine.
At least that is what has been said over the last several years when it was this particular software glitch.

There have been other IP problems related to poor connector seating and poor grounds that have been mentioned though.

There have also been quite a few posts about the digital displays failing. Mine did the first year and was replaced under warranty.

68SILVER,

There is a reflash that will fix most of these glitches. The problem is that for my '03 chassis and earlier, this fix doesn't work. It has been explained that is like the system sort of overloads on info and resets itself. It doesen't seem to be a problem beyond a temporary blink.

Good luck,
Dave

68Silver, The IP reset may happen again however it's just a software glitch that happens from time to time when events don't come down the bus (computer wiring) in proper sequence and it causes a hard restart of the IP instruments.

There is an IP re-flash for 04 & 05 and I believe the issue went away in 06 with the new IP clusters. As for me, I'll have to live with the anomaly because they did not made a re-flash for the 03. I'm used to it and it doesn't hurt anything.

My 2004 has also had the same problem, had it 'rebooted' at a rally at the end of 09 and it's been OK since. Was told it was not a serious problem.

Well the time has arrived for my IP cluster to be replaced.
The digital display is scrambled, in process of ordering a reconditioned one.
The IP has not had a software reset for the pass 3 or four years I suppose I will have that to look forward to again with replacement.
Maybe Actia will want to see why reset has not happened pass years.
The orange display will be a winner for me I will be able to see it.

Commander, That was for a check of ABS system flash which was done, the scrambled display is something else that people have been dealing with since 04-05 years when there was a rash of them.
Thought I had made it pass that stage but we didn't, chassis was built in 02 when most were built with problem chips.
Your 04 coach may make it by problem unless if you already had IP changed.
