I have a 2004 national Seabreeze 8321 LX W-22 8.1 and Allison 1000.

Would like to use a Scan II gauge. How can I do this?

Thanks

Sam

Sam, Basically it's Plug&Play and you're good to go! The OBDII connector is located to the left of the steering column. It's a black D connector and you can't miss it.

Some OEs just leave the OBDII D connector floating around under the dash - weird!

It's a snap to set up and has tons of useful info. I have a W20 with Allison 1000 and the guage that is not programmed by default is transmission temp. This is availalbe as an "X" guage which you can program in. The "X" guage codes are available on the scan guage site. be sure to read the instructions in the manuel before you start this prosses. and don't try to do it alone. The codes are long and if you don't enter a digit in a timley manner it will revert to default so it helps to have someone read you the codes.

Good info. Thanks.

I plan to get my Scangauge upgraded when we get to CO where we will stay until after Thanksgiving and set it up for transmission temp.

I also want to add a trip computer item (Average MPG) to the gauge display and it appears that can be done after the upgrade.

Clay, I believe that "Average MPG" is one of the default values on the SGII. One of my good friends Herman told me that when they are going down the road, he watches the AVG on the IP and the wife (copilot) watches the AVG on the SGII. If the MPGs start to drop on her side, the directive is to slow down.

if you buy your scan gauge 2 from OEMY, it will come already programmed for the allison temp (5 sp for sure, 6 sp maybe) and several other x gauge programs.

Maybe I used the wrong term. There are two MPGs available on mine. One is what I think of as the instantaneous MPG which changes pretty rapidly to show response to grades and acceleration. The other is a cumulative MPG which on the Scangauge is for the day's trip (I think). I call that average MPG.
I can watch the instantaneous MPG while in the gauge mode but since my Scangauge that has not been upgraded to the X Gauge level it will not let me show the cumulative MPG when I am in the gauge display mode because that is a trip computer function.

I want to watch the cumulative MPG in the gauge mode which I understand the X gauge upgrade will allow.
There - clear as mud?

Is my IP even less accurate than most?

Here I show 19813 miles and averaging 90.4 MPG.

Then in about 12 miles, the average drops to 34.5 MPG

25 miles further and it's at 13.3

I always leave mine on 'Avg' MPG. Although it certainly knows if I'm going up the mountain or down, and lets me know when the engine is working hard or just relaxing, I certainly can't get any idea of my average MPG from this gauge.
I can't find the pic now but by the time I get to the top of I-70 @ the Eisenhour tunnell it often reads between 3.1 to 4.3 MPG so somehow knows when I'm burning a lot of gas or just cruising or coasting.

Maybe going down the mountains just totaly confuses it.

Any body elses IP give readings like this?

Max, You have to selectively adjust the afterburner nozzles for minimum fuel consumption!

All of our IPs read in the same manner when the engine is under an extreme load for extended periods of time. I've seen readings in the 90 MPGs going up hill so don't ask me why I haven't figured it out yet. Straight and level while cruising over a 50 mile stretch seems to be the best profile in which to generate believable data.

" I've seen readings in the 90 MPGs going up hill"

Yours is alot worse then mine then. I only get crazy high readings from mine when going downhill.
