Question Kingpin kit for W32 (2005) chassis

After putting new tires on the 05 National Dolphin, I had an alignment done and Ned Morris (Morris Wheel Alignment) told me I needed new kinpins & bushings (two) as the ones now on the MH had too much play, even after lubricating them.
OK.
Anyone out there knwo where I can get the kingpin kit for the Workhorse W32 chassis?

JJ

JJ, I believe that your are talking about a W22 Chassis.

You may want to review this thread for additional reading materials.

Start Topic 2005 Dolphin 5342 (W-22 Chassis) Steers Poorly

We just went through a kingpin replacement thread on a W24 but at the end of the day we saw where it was not necessary.

The second thread drVer talks about was mine. I had a frontend alignment and was told the same thing. I kept asking why the quote wa for over $2100! I then took it to my workhorse authorized center (Cummins Crosspoint, Normal, IL) and they said...NO!

The previous shop said I needed 2 kits for $1000+. I only would have needed 1 kit and could have gotten them for about $400.

I have 49,100 miles on a W24 chassis. According to Crosspoint I'm good for a lot more. Get a second opinion.

When I took the 05 Dolphin 5324 to a local shop Ned told me he was able to "only take care of the toe-in" because there was too much play in the bushings/kingpin. He said the replacement wasn't urgent and that I should look for a "kit" that contained a set (2) of kingpins & bushings. His said he would charge $500 for the labor.

I had the MH "serviced" a year ago, but now I wonder if the kingpins had any grease applied?

Ned stressed that I should look for an exact replacement based on the manufacturer's part number. I've looked in the Workhorse manual I retrieved from thier site but didn't see any mention of the kingpin, although I did see it in one of the images for the "W" series chassis.

I drove the unit about 4 miles from Ned's to JTF and the steering felt OK. So perhaps the new tires and a little grease did something good.

I would still like to know the part number though and a source for the kit.

Yes it is a "W22" chassis. Sorry about the mixup.

I just found the site WorkhorseParts.com and clicking around on it found the part number W8000035 & description PIN,FRT WHL BRG NUT COT. Is this the "Kit" for the kingpin? Anyone? The workhorseparts site returned "This Part in Currently not in the Database." when I followed the link on the part number.

At Workhorse Parts try Chris Carino Parts@WorkhorseParts.com

Also try Uptime Parts I worked with Rob Tiffany UpTimeParts@Navistar.com

Be prepared to provide a VIN # to help them find the correct part.

I got a call from Art at Findit Parts this morning and he told me that the kit's number was W8000026. He asked me to measure the pin and tell him how long it is so that he can determine if the kit he found was the correct one.
