our 1 year old unit is on a ford chassis and it came with bilsteins and its has a smooth ride, and everyone says bilsteins have a harsh ride. i think there are different levels of shocks that the manufacturer can order from bilstein. of course its only a gas mh

Joelyn, Our founder Bill has a set on his Winnebago Vectra. He likes them.
Given the cost for the RKs I'd rather have the Koni Shocks.

I read the article in mh mag and I got to say if I was in the market for shocks I would go with the blistens. Why? 1)Because of my own riding exp with my blistens and 2)One of the big plus is the fact they(according to the article and my exp) ride and handle better than the others on rough roads and interstate joints which is where I drive most of the time and 3) they cost less. If I still had monroes I would be in the market because they were terrible. Like I said I dont have a dog in this show but someone asked for opinions and I gave mine. Good luck in what ever choice you make.

If you are happy with your Bilstein's then that's awesome!

I thought thats why we paid thousands more for the wh chassis over the ford. Btw I am very happy with my ride and my shocks. I was curious why folks would spend alot of money on these shocks. Btw, the blistens were the best according to mh mag.

jdsr, I don't believe that you could actually think that the price for Ford Bilsteins or Workhorse Bilsteins would be all that much.

All I was saying is that we get a lot of people through our shop that have us remove their BILSTEIN's and upgrade to Koni's and 99% of them say they loved they difference, in fact most said it was a night and day difference.
But that doesn't mean anything if you are satisfied with the way your coach handles and rides...that saves you some bucks!

If you're replacing that many Bilsteins maybe you should start a used shock offering. Maybe some of those that can't afford the Koni's would buy the used Bilsteins. Especially if they are low mileage ones.

If I had the old black monroes and couldn't afford $600 for Koni's I would at least try the Bilsteins. If priced right and in like new condition.
I have gas magnums and the ride improved a lot from original. I don't know how much difference there is between them and the Bilstein's but might be worth a try.

No, no, thats not what i meant. I was just saying I think I/we paid 5-6 thousand more(I think that number is about right) when we bought the wh chassis and I just assumed it was for upgrades like better shocks, etc. I dont want to compare ford with wh or start that debate. My monroes on my front were terrible but the blistens are great. Thats just my opinion and I guess mh mag as well. If people want konis and they fit their needs then thats great as well. I guess it like another member said , he gets a great ride and gets to save some money as well.

There is an article in May issue of Motorhome magazine the compares the Bilstein, Koni ans Road King on a DP that had Sachs OEM shocks. The Bilsteins came out on top. Hard to compare a DP to our gassers.
