Koni's on the UFO
3 of the UFO's here at the WCMC Rally in Bakersfield had Koni shocks installed by Redlands. Craig A had them installed in Indio? and reported fantastic results, no more porpoiseing. We leave for home tomorrow so I hope to have a great report for you tomorrow night.

They finally got them installed about 4:00. We are in the process of putting everything away and hope to be on the road by 9:30. I will let you know tonite how the ride was. The rally was fantastic, we really enjoyed it and all of the nice people we met.

I have to chuckle, when I test drove the UFO coach during the 2007 Pomona Manufactures show, I thought the coach went into terrible gyrations when we crossed over a railroad track at a 45º angle. Like the front end of unit was falling away. I got the impression from WCC that I just didn't understand the chassis.
Thank You, I feel vindicated.

Last year there was a question asked "What are the 3 or 4 best things you have added to your MH?" I have a new Number 1, KONI Shocks!!!
What an incredible difference in the ride.

Ok, Im going to ask this question and Im not throwing blame on wh or any other chassis mfg. Im just curious. When I bought my mh new it had the black shocks(monrow shocks?). I was told and I believe they were no good and to change to yellow(blisten shocks?) they were the best by far. Now its the koni shocks. Thats 3 different shocks in 4 years. Here are my questions. Are the blistions no good anymore? Why dont the chassis builders install them to begin with( one posters drove a brand new mh and he said the shocks were terible)? I understand the cost thing(are the konis that much more on a new mh) but if the shocks being used cant handle the mh than maybe they shouldnt be installed. Just wondering.

jdsr,
The Blistein's were the answer to the overloading of the chassis by the OEM's. Workhorse spec'd the shock package based on a ratio of weight front to rear. The OEM's blew it and Workhorse upgraded the shocks to Monroe Magnums... which turned to out only fix the problem temporarily. Thus, in Apr of 04 Workhorse went to Blistein's as standard equipment. Very good shock but very firm. But, when Koni came out with the FSD it fixed the original problem and gave a very smooth ride.
At one time I had Bilstein's on the rear and Koni's on the front. Worked great. But, I decided to put Knoi's all around. Much better ride. I sold my Bilstein's to a fellow RV'er that called his coach "bob" as bobbed like a cork. Not so after I installed the Bilstein's for him.

My old shocks were yellow and blue, not sure of the manufacturer. The Koni's are the answer to the bouncing problem for the UFO chassis as far as I am concerned. On the 6 hour drive home, every time we hit a bump we started to grab something to hold on to. One bounce up and then the ride smoothed right out. I'm not sure why they are not installed as original equipment but I would bet that cost is the issue.

Thanks for the answer. Workhorse or winnie replaced my front 2 under warr because I had the "bob" also. At the time I felt if the fronts were bad why the back ones wernt. Anyway the blistens on front solved my "bob" and I still have the monroes on back. I like the ride I have now but maybe the konis would improve it more. I guess its one of those things that you cant miss what you have never experienced( the konis ride). When these go bad I will probly go to the konis.

I have my old Bilsteins, if any one can use them let me know. They have 11,000 miles on them. I don’t want to toss them if anyone can use them.
