My LCD display is unreadable. When I contacted Workhorse, they said it would need to be pulled out and send off for repair or replacement and would take 3-6 days. I ask him if I could still drive my MH as we fulltime in it. He indicated that we could not.
What I want to do is go to a dealer, have them take the bad one out and then return later to have the new on installed. Should this be a problem?

Hey Scottsdale,
We had to do the lcd in our's this fall.... We took it to the dealer, they pulled it. It's only 8 or so screws and unplug. I then picked up the piece in a week and reinstalled it myself. I don't know if your dealer will let you. The dealer we used in Scottsdale,AZ did. DAVE

I would give the dealer your estimated mileage, have them order one with that mileage programmed in & call you when it arrives.
Just a thought. Thats the way mine was done, but then I had a very special dealer.

Just had my Actia IP replaced last week and the Workhorse Service Center advised me ahead of time that the coach would have to stay while the panel was shipped in. Took about 5 days to get it and about 20 minutes to install once it came in. They don't let you (or shouldn't) drive it because your mileage will not be accurate if you drive it after they report it to Actia and they flash it to same mileage. I would have like to have just taken my coach home but understood because of the mileage difference issue.

Only in a Workhorse, does this happen.
Actia and Workhorse must be family.
Why else would they continue to use the only odometer that is not reliable not to mention all its other problems.
Get a Chinese bicycle odometer/speedometer from Wal Mart for $10, they're reliable.
WH must be laughing at us knowing every actia has problems sooner or later, and mostly sooner.

My Actia panel was replaced once. The replacement IP has been working well for the past 2.5+ years with no problems.

Sorry Mike but I think that Workhorse has a 3 really ugly problems that NEED to be addressed.
1) the ACTIA cluster has been problematic from day one. They were working on sort of software fix for the problems but I have never seen it. My IP was replaced 2 years ago and it has "Lost its brains" more than once.
2) Brakes.... need I say more
3) The Infamous Fuel Filter... That problem has been solved but nobody wants to pay for it.

Does anyone know if the Actia cluster units being replaced under warranty by Workhorse/Actia are new, or are they repaired units that are being recycled? Just curious, wonder sometimes if they are not "fixing a problem with a problem". At any rate the replaced units sure seem to have a big failure rate.
DriVer, you are lucky on the 2.5 year success of your replaced Actia, mine has failed again, in about 2 years, same problem as first time.

It just seems like they replace one for another without ever caring why it can't be reliable lon term and they obviously need to start from scratch at the drawing board. Better yet just copy any other vehicle. I've never had a broken speedometer since my '51 Ford cable broke.
And seriously, Schwinn makes a very reliable bike speedometer and makes a profit selling them for $10.

Wait don't forget # 4
4) The Autopark too.
If the Actia was made in China ,we all be saying it's cheap Chinese junk.

There are at least 2 EC change looking stickers on my IP Cluster. There is no way that Actia and/or Workhorse would replace failed cluster with new unless the are NON-REPAIRABLE. There may be new parts but 99% are recycled, I'll bet.

Driver, do you know if Workhorse and/or Actia is working on a long term solution. Some of the owners that have posted have had 2-3 of these IP's replaced. My WH service center said these things are $800-1000 if you were to purchase. I am out of warranty in a few weeks and from the sounds of it, these things are problematic with their failure rate at what they are.
Dales problem of everything going out on him just adds to WH owners frustration as it seems it is not "if" but "when" and how long a replacement IP will last. Mine being replaced last week, I can pretty well assume it was a rebuilt unit.

Maybe that is the problem, they are replacing the Actia clustaers under warranty with NON-REPAIRABLE units that they think have been repaired. The failure rate for replaced units is way to high. If the Actia cluster is indeed the cause of your electrical problems, well that is a way more serious than missing lines from the LCD screen."you have to be able to stop em and steer em", above all else.

I have made arrangements to get mine replaced next week under warranty. My Newmar warranty runs out in May 08. Does WH warranty these replacement Actia clusters for some time period in case the replacement fails also?
