I have 8200 miles on my 2004 W20 chassis which I purchased new in March 2006, The left rear brake line coming over the axle to the wheen has been replaced by WH twice and it is leaking again (scheduled for 3rd replacement next Wed.
I poasted on this earlier but it seems no one else has had this problem. The leak is more of an "ooze" with the drip at the lowest point in the line where the line goes through a stabilizing bracket fastened to the read of the axle. The WH Service Center manager & I agreed that this time we will place some padding between the line and the bracket to see if that stops it. Examination of the old line on last replacement didn't reveal any holes visible to the naked eye. Your thoughts??

Were both ends of the line checked where they terminate? Maybe you have bad threads or seat for fitting in the caliper, or in the junction block where it connects before comming across the axle. If something is rubbing bad enough to cause replacement of original plus two replacement lines, I would insist on a really close inspection by your service center. In order to be safe, you have to be able to "steer 'em and stop 'em", I always say. Don't neglect the brakes or steering regardless.

My guess is the leak is at one of the fittings and just running to the low point in the line. Lightly lay your finger or paper towel on the underside of the line from the first fitting on both ends. Press the brake pedal several times first.

Leaking Brake Line - NOT.. Took the coach in to my friendly WC Service Center to have the line replaced again and this time their mechanic discovered that it is not the brake line but the bracket that holds the line to the axle. The bracket had a screw that had penetrated the axle housing and we were actually getting a little axle grease out around the screw. The screw that was there was a sheet metal screw rather than a machine screw. He cleaned it up and used a machine screw with sealant. Will keep an eye, but this should solve the problem. Strange that in two previous replacements of the brake line this wasn't noted (two different WC Sv Centers).

There is a product called "Noodles" or "Wacky noodles" these are styrofoam tubes around 5 feet long usually in bright colors and in various sizes. You can get them at K-mart (Among other) stores.

Cut off a length and run the line through it, Clamp it down.

Cut off a length and stuff it in the gap between one thing and another to seal the gap.

Cut off a lenght, slit it lengthwise, and slip it over the megal bar below the "Tray" in the dash of a 2005 intruder and that annoying rattle is ... History,

Cut off a length, slit it lengthwise and slide it over the sharp edge and corner of... Most anything with a sharp edge or corner.

Cut off... Well you get the picture, Most versitle stuff.

That's a great idea. I've been trying to think of something easy to put on the slide out corner and the door that lets my entry hatch bang against when open.

Noodles. I should have figured that one out. Thanks for the tip.

Jack, Your new mechanic knows what he is doing. I have seen 1/2 Dozen with the exact same problem. The amount of fluid leaked is so small that even if it was never discovered it would not have any effect on the rear end or the coach. It is just one of many little annoyances that one finds in almost anything as complex as a Motorcoach. Glad you found the leak and it also seems a good mechanic.

Good luck - Glenn
