What is the 'box' that is bolted to the frame on the drivers side, has the steering shaft coming into the top, and then out the side there is a shaft to the front end assembly to steer the wheels?

I noticed that I have a bunch of oily leakage at the bottom of this box. Any ideas on what this is? Since I'm still under warranty, I'll be taking it in next week, but am curious if this is a common thing or a potential issue.

BTW: My power steering fluid shows to be at a good level mid-way between the add and full mark.

Megsfolks, That device is called your steering box or more exactly a steering gear. If it is observed leaking or has any fluid on the box itself this would require a resolution by a WSC.

This is not a common occurrence and it doesn't present as any type or repetitive issue. I believe once this is resolved it should not be an issue for you going forward.
