Ok...I'm confused a bit...well, maybe more than a little bit! In another 'info' thread, something was mentioned about LED/incandescent turn signals/brake lights and problems with flasher switch.

We've got a KK460 with LED lights. We bought a set of magnetic lights (not LEDs) to go on the back of the toad. Both of these connect to the Pollack plug -- alas, with no relay switch.

1) Is this likely to cause problems with flasher?

2) Is amperage going to be too high and burn out turn signal switch?

(We're set to 'roll' in 5 days....H E L P !!!) We tested all the lights and signals...all seemed fine.

I think you will want to observe the flash rate (blinks per∙minute) without the toad hooked up. Hook up the toad and if the flash rate is the same it should be OK.

Sometimes the signal lights may flicker or flash at a really high rate of speed and that's not a good thing. If the flash rate is some how different than it is normally there may be a problem. The problem happens when the wires get shorted or people "hang a lot of lights" on the signal circuit.

Who makes your magnetic lamps by-the-way. They should be able to tell you if it's going to be a problem or not. I haven't seen LED signal lamps on a KK460 before. They probably do look a lot better than incandescent ones.

What exactly all these lamps draw you would have to use an ampmeter to see the load on the circuit. I do know that 2 extra tail lamps should not be a problem. Now stick 4 lamps in there and that "might" be a problem.

Thanks, DriVer for the clarification! We're going to get 'things' lined up in our driveway for hookup (before it rains?) and retest again -- watching for the flashrate. We don't have the box the extra lights came in (bought it at megastore.) If there is a difference in the flashrate, we'll have to punt!

If all goes well, why then

You should expect some difference in the flash rate, but not a whole lot. As long as it isn't really rapid you should be OK.
