List of shops by state that will work on Workhorse R26 UFO chassis

Folks,

I would like to put together a list of shops by state that will defininitley and competently work on a Workhorse UFO. I think it should be broken in to 3 categories.

1. Work on everything.
2. Work on everthing except Wabco brakes.
3. Willingess to work with service plan companies.

I will post my list in the next thread.

Thanks,

P.s. The workhorse dealer locator did not list any within 100 miles of me.

Michigan

Circle K, Midland.

This shop replaced shocks for me and fitted a steering stabilizer and bled and replaced brake fluid. No willingness to work with service plan company and does not have Wabco diagnostics. Labour is about 85-90$ an hour.

Alma Truck and tire, Mt Pleasant
Has Wabco diagnostics and worked with service plan company. They replaced a fauly brake wiring harness for me and built a battery box. Labour 85$ an hour.

Cummins Bridgeway Saginaw,
Have not used these but spoke with them and they can work on a UFO.

State of Rhode Island, get towed to another state and definitely do not get towed to Arlington RV as they are clueless.

Is there a problem finding shops that will work on ufos. Is that because of the rear engine. What about parts. As many of them get older, perhaps over ten years old, will they become difficult to find parts. I read somewhere that only about 860 were ever built. I like the idea of a rear engine gas. It makes total sense to me, yet so few were built.

It may not just be UFO's, I have spoken to several shops that are supposedly Workhorse qualified and I wouldn't bring my lawnmower to them. I have found a small family shop in Connecticut that I take my coach to when something comes up I can't work on and they have been excellent. The father works on the house equipment and the son on the chassis.

No problem getting parts at all for me.
My issue was finding someone to work on the brakes.

My issue was finding someone to work on the brakes.

I first asked several Workhorse shops about bleeding my brakes and all of them were unaware of what a W24 chassis was and that the wheels needed removal for brake bleeding.

I finally went to a truck shop and provided them the Workhorse service manual on how to bleed the brakes. The first thing the guy tried to do was jack up my coach with a bottle jack on the center of the differential pumpkin. I flipped. Fortunately, he stopped before any damage could be done and a four ton jack didn't have a prayer of lifting the back of the coach.

I spent several minutes explaining what needed to be done and in the end he let me help him. I got to keep an eye on things, he got an extra pair of hands. However, I won't go back. Next brake bleed I am not sure what I am going to do. I would almost prefer not flushing the fluid to what I have run into to date. It is very frustrating to say the least and not being able to reliably trust someone to do good work and doing it yourself all the time does take some enjoyment out of owning the coach. There are times when I would really just rather write a check.
