This might save someone some time and frustration...

After loosening the 18mm mounting bolts, I found that I could not move the brake caliper assembly far enough toward the tire rim to allow the slide pins to come out (this is on 19.5" wheels).
I was all set to do the pin lube job this morning on my coach, but I've ixnayed the whole operation now. I am not going to try taking the lug nuts off (they're at 450 ft. lbs.) and remove each wheel for the pin lube job.
I did a complete brake fluid purge/flush just three weeks ago (using four quarts of WalMart's finest Prestone DOT 3).

-Hope the Workhorse caliper recall gets in gear soon this "late summer" (LOL). For now, I'm just driving very gingerly, avoiding stop-n-go, using the engine brake, and basically I am scared to drive my coach normally for fear that another caliper will seize.

troth, I sustain your motion to NOT remove the wheels to lube the pins (not all that essential) and I commend you on your proactive stance in flushing your brake fluid and ONLY using "Top Shelf" Walmart DOT3 brake fluid!

.
You might want to check the manual on that - mine says 475 foot pounds.

I bought a 3 to 1 torque multiplier and a 250 foot pound torque wrench so I could torque mine if it ever becomes necessary.
I plan on replacing my tires this fall and checked with two local truck tire shops. Neither one has the ability to accurately set the torque. One did agree to use my tools to set it though.

Thanks for the info on the pins. I was considering trying to do that myself but believe I will wait for the recall now.

I used a Prestone DOT 3 synthetic brake fluid - also from Walmart. Called WH and they said it was okay to use synthetic.
