Purchased a very low mileage (< 3,000) used 2007 Fleetwood Fiesta 26Y (Workhorse W16 chassis) a few months ago and found that around 65 MPH the front tires vibrated. Took it to a truck tire repair shop and purchased two new 19.5 front tires. At the same time I had them spin balance the other 5 tires including the spare. In the balancing process they found that 5 of the 7 Maxion (W0007492) steel wheels were out of round! With this knowledge in hand I took it to an "authorized Workhorse" service center to see if I could purchase equivalent sized aluminum wheels, knowing that if they replaced the steel wheels under warranty I would end up with the same problem in the future. I wanted wheels a bit more robust than the OEM version.

Turns out that Workhorse doesn't offer aluminum wheels for this particular application, but they recommended that I look for after market wheels instead.

OK, I went that direction. Asked the local folks what the specifications were for the steel wheels and they could only offer the Workhorse part number W0007492, and it was made in Brazil by Maxion. And, they didn't have a cross reference to either Alcoa or Accuride.

So, I spent a couple of weeks on the internet, called a couple of dozen suppliers that sell Alcoa and Accuride wheels, 5 or 6 other "authorized Workhorse" service centers, and the Workhorse technical support and parts departments. Guess what? No one could provide me all the specifications for the 19.6x6, 10 lug, W0007492 steel wheels used on the W16 chassis! Turns out that this 19.5 steel wheel has 6.25" (my measurement) hub centering while the rest of the world uses 6.705".

My questions are:

1 - Does anyone know the exact bolt hole diameter, lug bolt size, hub bore diameter, and offset specifications for this Maxion wheel?

2 - Are there any aluminum Alcoa or Accuride cross references for these wheels?

3 - Does Accuride have a 5000 lb steel wheel replacement for the Maxion 3750 lb rated wheel?

Thanks in advance for any help you may provide.

Got a call back from WH's parts department from Scott. He was very helpful and I do appreciate the return call. He researched his engineering data base and came up with the following specifications for the Maxion W0007492 steel wheel. Here they are:

19.5 X 6.00 10 lugs
Bolt circle = 8.75"
Offset = 5.0"
Hub bore = 6.25"
Lug studs = 5/8"

WH doesn't offer anthing but the Maxion's, so I looked up Accurides and the closest thing I could find were 22.5's with the same bolt pattern. Looked up Alcoa and found the same. Does anyone know of another choice out there in the after market world?

Is there something inherantly wrong with steel wheels that causes you to believe as stated above? ED

VIBRATION DIAGNOSIS

If the vibration seems to be driveline related and from the wheel ends, then perform the following:

TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY INSPECTION

1. Jack up the front of the vehicle and spin each assembly observing the wear conditions of each tire and concentricity of the tire on wheel mounting. If the variation in the distance between the line-up ("gg"¯) ring and the wheel flange exceeds 1/16"¯, have the assembly broken down, relubed and re-mounted. (See diagram.)

2. Measure and record the radial runout on the vehicle of each assembly with tire runout gauge. Mark the highest point of the assembly. Rotate each assembly until the high spot is at the 12:00 position (without allowing the assembly to turn). Loosen all lug nuts and re-torque in the proper sequence. Re-measure and record the adial runout of the assembly. If either front assembly still exceeds 0.040"¯, measure the rear assemblies and put the two assemblies with the least runout on the steer axle.

3. Repeat the vehicle test drive. If the vibration still exists, contact the appropriate chassis manufacturer.

I have a 2005 Workhorse W20 chassis; I didn't cross-reference my wheels to yours, they may or not be the same. I too looked for a source for Alcoa wheels... here is a response that I received from SouthwestWheel.com

"The fronts are $300 each, rears $325 each, and the accessory kit for front and rear is $250.

If you would like to speak with a sales representative please call 1-800-866-3336. Our hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:00pm CST.

Thank you,

Darrick Sweeden
Southwest Wheel Company

Maybe they could help you out in obtaining the proper Aloca wheels for your W16.
