This is how they did mine. It was not a good experience. The service writer knew every thing and said they have to take the whole front end and axle off to replace it. $14,000. When they finally got the engine I suggested to the mechanics, can't you do it thru the drivers door? Well thats how they did it but still $14,000.
I think you'd be better off taking the windshield out than taking the axle and front end off.

I just replaced my 1998 454. I have pictures on my thread. I think it's called bounder need new engine.
