I feel pretty certain that after this years short vacation, 1453 miles and no major problems, that my UP that was installed last year has given me much more power and increased gas milage.

I used 219 gallons.
101 hours on the generator.

Ron

Ron;

That's good news and I'm happy that you had a problem free trip. I'm looking forward to getting an Ultra Power for my rig. Oh, I have a question.....with the Ultra Power upgrade installed, how were the results from the butt dyno point of view? Just wondering!

Bob

I suppose I mean the feeling you get when you're driving the rig now as compared to prior to the upgrade........sorry!

Better accelleration, more power, less downshifts from 5th gear. Will go all the way to 43 miles/hour before down shift from 5th gear when pulling a grade.

I might add, that's with almost 70k miles and original plugs and wires.

Am I missing something, since when is it good to lug an engine down when pulling a grade?

Fred, That is a reasonable question which I hope can be re-phrased by Ron.

Maybe I'm missing something, the engine didn't seem like it was lugging.

Wouldn't the transmission down shift to the next gear if needed?

Could there be something wrong with my tranmission's shifting point

Thanks,

Ron

Ron, I don't expect that there is. UP carries the vehicle through a wider operational band and downshifts will schedule when one is definitely called for.

When you are describing grades are those slight, moderate or mountain goat?

Mike,

The grades I’m talking about would be slight to moderate. The slight grades are the ones usually like overpasses. The moderate ones would be steeper but not very long.

My driving style on interstates, in flat country, is usually just at the bottom of the overpass in cruise at 60mph, I kick the engine out of cruise and let the MH ease up over the crest and return to cruise when the MH reaches my set speed of sixty.

On a moderate grade of short distance if I hit the bottom at say 55 to 60 mph, I let the MH ease up to the crest without acceleration and my speed will vary from 50 to 45 depending on the steepness, before laboring and down shifting.

Your driving style may vary
