Navistar, Workhorse, Monaco, India, and You

This just made me laugh... just had to share:

So, ya'know how Workhorse is now owned by Navistar...

Well, did ya' also know that Navistar now owns Monaco and Holiday Rambler...
And further, did ya' know that that means that Monaco's Chassis Mfgt - "Roadmaster" a Navistar company too?
see: Navistar

That means that Workhorse and Roadmaster are kinda' like cousins

So, here's the funny part...
There's another Division called Mahindra/Navistar.

Mahindra Navistar outperforms! - YouTube

Funny stuff

Navistar bought Workhorse in July 2005. Navistar bought certain Monaco assets (and its brands) in June 2009. Not exactly "news".

Unfortunately one of the "cousins" recently became DECEASED, and the company will be laid to rest sometime this fall, when the final COMMERCIAL chassis come of the line.

Nobody said it was news...I just thought that the video clip (which is linked to the Navistar main Corporate website) was funny.

Is there a Mahindra in your future?

But, on a serious note, I wonder if Navistar acquired Workhorse so they could kill it? To support the Roadmaster chassis biz' by killing the competition?

It's just odd...acquire a chassis manufacturer - kill it - then buy from the competiton - cuz' ironically, Monaco has Ford P53's under the Lapalma and Monarch

Corporate Connection

There seems to be more of a connection than they are sayin'...maybe someday we'll see some "Bombay Chassis" in the US

Sounds pretty devious to me, but the best speculation as to why Navistar decided to finish WH off I've heard yet. Actually I've been trying to get some speculation as to why Navistar wanted to get rid of WH but you are the 1st one who was not afraid to guess.
Good job and there may be some truth to it.

One company has the monopoly , we all lose, can't see how it's going to help Navistar, but wait, maybe Ford bought Navistar and is keeping it a secret as long as they can.

Also with all of WH's problems before the sale, how smart was the previous owner of WH that he got Navistar to buy it? Maybe he knew when to fold em and gave it away.
I'm sorry to be so cynical, but apparently, IMO, WH was a flipper , loser and quitter when the going got tough: they got gone.

Max49: REALLY??? " But, on a serious note, I wonder if Navistar acquired Workhorse so they could kill it? To support the Roadmaster chassis biz' by killing the competition? "

Ya'll really think a profit driven International conglomerate spent ~ 50 Million bucks in 2005 to "support" another chassis that they didn't own until 2009?

Glad you're having fun and NOT letting the facts get in the way of logic!

Oh Ed, lighten up. If you're so much smarter than the rest of us,
Why don't u tell us why Navistar bought WH.
For sure, no one can call u a Schettino, u stick with the ship til the lights go out by themselves and hits bottom. Not bad, but a sense of humor doesn't hurt, try it sometime.

I’m not so worrier as to what their intention was. Makes sense to take a competitor out.

I’m glad that Navistar is the proud owner of Workhorse, because, this should mean that someone will maintain and keep my parts pipeline open. It would be bad pr to drop the parts support for the Workhorse product line. 'You are going to be the proud owner of 25 million people,' he told the president. 'You will own all their hopes, aspirations, and problems. You'll own it all.' Privately, Powell and Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage called this the Pottery Barn rule: You break it, you own it.

It’s been years since Workhorse produced the P32 chassis and so really nothing has changed. I can’t think of a part that I can’t replace today. Although It might take WHCC 4 weeks to send it out. So in a world of change, this relationship looks quite stable and gives me hope for that odd ball non-cross referenced part.

I’m happy with my Workhorse – International – Navistar – Mahindra chassis and plan to enjoy it!

I’ve even considered putting one of them International Harvester stickers on my Rolling Blue Turd

JUST FOR THE RECORD, The quote placed in post #13 above is NOT MY WORDS, but rather is a portion of another post which I had quoted. Ed
