I'm suppose to be dropping the coach off this afternoon to have Bilstein's installed at Camping World in NH. After bringing this up in a post a couple of guys said I should use the Koni's, so I read up here about the Koni's and it seems like everybody loves them, I call Camping World and ask about them, this guy has never heard about them. I foward the page from Redlands to them and they are clueless. I want to get this right the first time. The coach has the stock shocks from 2003 now, some people rave about the Bilsteins and I'm sure they would make a big improvement, but If the Koni's are a even bigger improvement I'll cancel the appointment and order Koni's online. I'm really having second thoughts about having Camping World work on the coach if they have never even heard of the Koni shock.

Thanks for any help and advice.

Al

I bought and mounted the Koni FSDs, replacing Bilstein's that only had ~7K miles on them. They made a noticeable difference in reducing the harshness of the ride without sacrificing stability/porpousing that the Bilstein's are known to improve. I found the Bilstein's were just too unforgiving on choppy pavement. The Konis are expensive at $490 or so but well worth it.

It's amazing that the Camping World salesman says he hasn't heard of Koni shocks.....maybe it's because they only sell Bilsteens. His answer would be reason enough not to go to Camping World to let them do an installation.

If you put Bilsteens on your coach, you will feel every tar strip, pebble, rut, and leaf on the road....they are that rough! Our motorhome came with the OEM Bilsteens, and we threw them in the trash after we installed the Koni FSD's. These shocks aren't nearly as harsh as the Bilsteens. This is probably the best money we spent on this gas chassis.

Thanks for the input. I just canceled the appointment. I'll order the Koni's online and install them myself.

Thanks

Al

It took me 2.5 hours to do the install and that included time to go to the neighbors to borrow a metric wrench for the top rear nut.
Good Luck -- Frank O.

From your tagline it looks like you currently hsve Bilstein shocks. If you do, do you know they are gauranteed for life if you're the original owner. If you have bad Bilsteins, Belstein will replace them for free.
