Former owners papers how Lube, oil change 7/05 with 10/30 Oil. Since cost for oil ws $15.87 assume this was not the synthetic as recommended this site. Also show transmission Service this date with filter change of 10 qts of ATF @ $2.10 ? qt. Mileage at time of change wwas 24050 and is not 25600. After reading info this forum, and since I will be keeping this unit for a long time. Any suggestions as to when I should change lubricants to Synthetic.

Given that you show at least 24000 miles on this 2003 coach you can proceed with a synthetic strategy as soon as you want to. Bring your MH to an Allison Regional Center to have it power flushed using Transynd, I did. If you want to change your oil on your own (I initially did) I used Amsoil Torque Shift synthetic. There are others you can buy on Allison's list of approved fluids and the Amsoil is not one of them BUT Amsoil swears on a stack of bibles that their stuff is AOK.

You can use any fully synthetic motor oil and I have used either 0W-30 Amsoil Series 2000 or Mobil 1 5W -(OR)-10W (in the summer heat) 30 weight (only). Both Amsoil and Mobil make filters so stick with these filters if you go with these oils. The Mobil is an M-111 and you can buy it at Auto-Zone or Advanced Auto parts.

Workhorse told me it was not cost effective to change to synthetics. Worhorse's advice is OK with me and I'm sticking to dino lubricants and changing my 5W30 every 3000 miles.

currently parked at Apache CG lot #79, Myrtle Beach
