Personally.. I too would suspect the motor mounts. Though it is possible the coach builder messed something up.

My guess is that WH did not engineer a good fit of these parts right from the start based on the reports of fan interference issues with the bottom shroud posted on this forum thru the years dating back to my join date and possibly earlier. The actual target position of the engine fan in the shroud seems to favor below center. Also supported by WHSC post in this thread.

My shroud is fastened in this manner as well. When the side clips broke the shroud and fan began to dance. Once the clips were restored all is well again.

My shroud repair repair is working well with temps being observed all day long at 206° in 60° weather.

Although my shroud repairs resulted in like new cooling performance, the original factory shroud is showing aging in the form of numerous cracks in the flange part of the fan opening area. So I bit the bullet and purchased a new set of shroud parts while passing thru Lake Havasu City this week. The local WHSC here is a real nice facility. The folks here were extra helpful.

I bought the top and bottom as well as the two side pieces. Total cost was $114. The side strips were PN W0006215 and cost about $9 each

Marty, that's pretty much my same scenario, except my lower shroud hit the fan by about a quarter inch. I now have 4 washers on each of the four bolts in between the sections and have my 1/4 inch clearance that others have..Would really like to know if you DO, OR DON'T run into the same problems..Also are the new shrouds much stiffer than the old ones.. I don't have my old ones to compare. Mine is May 02 chassis..I paid about the same..with shipping give or take a couple of dollars. Have fun. Jim C. 520-227-2751 P.S. Don't forget to put at least one screw in the middle of the bottom shroud.. I did 3.. Both sides and middle!!

I'm wondering why you needed to buy a shroud? Are they that fragile? I have never, on any vehicle, needed to replace a shroud due to age or time...

Neither have I until now.
The shroud got beat up quite a bit due to separation from the radiator mounts at the top side. Those attachments and a few clips are all that the factory used. The fan ate up some of the shroud material at the top. Lack of reinforcing ribs and constant vibration along the sides has likely fatigued the material some. I thought my patches worked pretty good to address the functionality of the shroud. The base material condition just doesn't make me feel comfortable. The replacement parts are nicely ribbed now. Clearly to address these issues being experienced by the aging fleet. Workhorse has recognized the need and implemented some improved part designs like the shrouds and the air dam materials and who knows what else.

Jim, I found I could adjust clearance at the bottom by moving the bottom shroud downward and to the left or right by about a half inch. The downward movement was possible because of the flimsy original material that allowed the sides to move inward slightly decreasing the excessive fan clearances at the sides. When I did this I increased bottom fan clearance to about a half inch. I already use 3 screws along the bottom shroud.

I will report about my installation probably in November when we get back from our upcoming road trip. The new shrouds appear to be same material but more rigid where the ribs have been added. The top mounting hole design is not slotted any more. They are exactly what FullTimer reported.

I should have. Sorry. Had my grand kids and was heading up to Oatman for the day. We stayed at Buckskin SP.

Yes it was Joes. Is that where you had your wheel seal work done?

Yeah, Joe’s is where I had the seals replaced.
I like Buckskin. Sometimes we take a vacation from Fulltiming and get together with friends to jetski on the river down there.
