My rig is nearly five years old and the tires were manufactured a little more than five years ago. Starting to get into that 5-7 year time period when purchasing new tires are in order. I have Michelin XRV 24570R19.5 tires on now and they have performed just as expected. My question is should I consider the Goodyear motor home tires as well as the Michelins. It's not price but performance. They are all expensive. Anyone have comments regarding the Goodyears which by the way I use on my pick-up and cars.
Bob

If you current tires have performed excellently, why not replace them with the same?? My thinking is you just did a 5+ year tire test!

Bob, if your tires are in good shape, you may be able to run them up to five more years. Here is a link to the MICHELIN RV Tire site that has a special bulletin called "SERVICE LIFE FOR RV/MOTORHOME TIRES" (scroll down to the bottom of the page):

MICHELIN RV TIRE INFO

Here is a snippit from their article:

While most tires will need replacement before they achieve 10 years, it is recommended that
any tires in service 10 years or more from the date of manufacture, including spare tires, be
replaced with new tires as a simple precaution even if such tires appear serviceable and even
if they have not reached the legal wear limit.
For tires that were on an original equipment vehicle (i.e., acquired by the consumer on a
new vehicle), follow the vehicle manufacturer's tire replacement recommendations, when
specified (but not to exceed 10 years).

If you do decide to go ahead and replace your tires, you might want to get a price quote from your nearest COSTCO Discount warehouse, as I understand they are very good on their prices, but you still have to find some shop to mount and balance them for you.

Good luck - Glenn

Thanks guys.....info is much appreciated. The tires did well on the five year test and after downloading the Michelin data, and inspecting each tire, we can go more years with the current rubber assuming the tire pressures are maintained correctly which I monitor closely.

It's perhaps the single best thing that we can do as owners short of remembering to check the engine oil.

The Crossfire monitors and allows a single inflation point which balances the air pressures in both tires. The external monitor gives you an at a glance indication of the pressure in both tires.

Crossfire comes in 5psi product increments. I have 90s which is the pressure that I run in my rear tires.

I am now using a Pressure Pro. Instead of 6 sensors I only need 4. A single sensor on the rear Crossfire inflation valve reads the pressure in both tires.
