Looking to replace our Goodyear's that are aging. Got a quote for Cooper Roadmaster 170 for $1600 complete. That's a 245/70 19.5 load range G. Anyone running those on their coach?

my quote for the same tires was 1650 installed. I was going to go with them , the tires dry-rot before they actually get used anyway.

Years ago I bought some of these, and they did not last long before weather cracking. The Goodyear G670's in that size that I replaced the Coopers's with were still good when we traded the coach in after 5-7 years.

from a friend of mine who owns a tire store in town who specializes in truck tires, he says that goodyear has a compound that seems to prevent the sidewalls from cracking as soon as the other brands. he re-treads tires all the time and does not seem to have trouble with the goodyears. for whatever thats worth.

I'm still on the fence , my other quote was for some hankook's $1900 installed. I was trying to shy away from goodyear just because they are the most expensive. I have goodyears now and they are original to the coach 2004 with only 11000 miles on them. They still look like new but I wanted to change them out due to age. So if the cheaper tires start to rot in 5-7 yrs. who cares because you should change them out due to age anyway right.

On my earlier reply about Goodyears being better for long term, I didn't say, but I had to replace the brand (X) in 3 years.

FWIW if your planning on any trips, shop around along the route for prices. Our front needed replacing and as we were headed from the RGV to FL I called several places along the way. Near Houston $480+ per, somewhere in LA $470 or so, in Gulfport MS at TCI $369. That is tire only for replacement 235/80 R22.5 XRV G's with date codes of 35th week in 2010. Called on the tires back in Nov, so they were pretty fresh. But you can figure another $100 per after all the other crap gets added in. Will check the states with no sales tax when we replace the rears.

My replacement Michelin XRVs are doing very well. DOT code is late 2006. I can expect to revisit the possibility of replacing the tires sometime around 2016. At that time I will again be looking for XRVs.

I replaced my XRV's DOT date 2001 with XRV's a few weeks ago. I never had any problems with them, just age. No sidewall cracks and 75% tread left. No flats. I installed the Counteract glass beads to balance. I now have a very smooth ride. (I am not connected to Counteract in any way) I think the new XRV's will last me until I get off the road. In about 10 years. My 2cents worth.
