IMO, the chassis consists of all the "automotive" components such as the motor, tranny, rear axle ( aka, the drivetrain ) plus all the suspension & steering items, the tires, wheels, brakes, and of course the main "rails" which hold it all together and provide the foundation for the "house".

In addition there are several items partially provided with the chassis, but "completed" by the coach builder using parts and pieces from other suppliers. Examples are the dash A/C system, windshield wipers, and electrical harnesses which are used to connect to coach specific items like headlights, etc. Sometimes these "interface" items are the source of finger-pointing when things don't work as expected.

Engine, Transmission, Drive train, Main frame (The rails under the motor home) Suspension,

So you understand, when it was delivered to the RV factory there was a box, kind of a bench in fact, behind the wheel, and it was Driven into the plant.

The box contained the dash display and electronics. The rest of the dash was provided by the house builder (some switches (Light) are workhorse, Some (Aux start) are house.

Here is a picture of a W20D / W22D (diesel). What you are looking at are components that are all associated with the "chassis." The chassis contains the power train, suspension, & steering gear including support equipment such as the cooling system, exhaust system and fuel system.

A picture of the W22 is attached.
