Does anyone know what improvements or changes workhorse has made to the chassis in the say last 6 yrs? How about the 8.1 engine?

Which Chassis??
The 8.1 was changed to a returnless fuel system in 2004, hence the "new" fuel filter.

The 2 inch front stabilizer bar was changed to a 2.5 inch bar which really improved the resistance to side to side sway.
My 2004 model year motor home has a 2003 chassis. It had the 2 inch bar and I think they made the change sometime in 2004 or 2005.

The steering cut went from 47 degrees to 50 degrees. Bilstein shocks were added. There have been no major modifications to the 8.1L engine. The specification remains the same.
A new cool pack was introduced which negated the need for the 2 auxiliary cooling fans.

The W series rear suspension is equipped with an integral 2.5 inch rectangle stabilizer with steel to steel connection. for sure since late 2004 model year.

The 2.5 inch rear stabilizer bar came on my 2003 chassis so it goes back at least that far.

I'll go further back than that .....
Every W20-W22 ever made since 2001 has always had a 2.5" rear stabilizer bar.

I also believe that GM's piston slap issue was rectified in most of their line of engines by 2005.

I have 83,000+ miles and although I get a little rattling on startup after about a week of inactivity. Once everything gets warm and fuzzy the engine quiets right down. This has been an occurrence on my engine for quite a few years and I am not overly excited about it.
You can Google: "8.1L Piston Slap" and read all about it ....
