No Ignition Power

Hello all,

I have a 2005 39' Mandalay Presidio on a Workhorse air ride chassis with a 330 Cummins ISC. I went to get it out of storage and there is no power to the ignition. Chassis batteries are at 12.4V, and house batteries are fine. There is no power to the ignition. There is power to the front fuse box and the window shades, radio, etc all work.

I had disconnected the chassis batteries via the rotary switch, and the house batteries via the disconnect switch on the power panel above the coach door. I don't know how the power comes into the ignition, any suggestions as to how I can troubleshoot this?

I would suspect the rotary switch. Can you measure if any voltage is coming out of the switch.

I would also like to see a tad more voltage than 12.4 VDC.

12.4v isn't bad if it's been in storage ... easily enough to crank. Like DriVer said, the first thing(s) to check are the cutoff switches to verify continuity.

Yes it should crank at 12.4 and the out of storage observation is valid. If a battery maintains a 12.4 volt profile of the course of an extended storage period, I would say that those batteries are in pretty good if not excellent shape.

I guess I'm a bit spoiled since I run a BatteryMINDer 24/7 and see voltages in the low 13s.

A 12.4 volt condition should not be what's keeping the OP from engaging the starter. The only thing that I expect has changed, is the rotary switch. Finding a loose cable at this point is not likely.

Now about those darned mice ....

Yep, you're spoiled!

I worked on a generator this week that mice got to. In a lot of coaches, one wire can kill ignition power.

Thanks for the replies! It is not the rotary switch because it activates other circuits as well ( like the gen set). There must be a fuse or solenoid that is out.

I found the problem! Battery boost rocker switch has "monitor reset" on it. This reset the power to ignition. Thank you for the replies though!

Thank you!

Couldn’t figure out why my “New to us” Presidio had no keyed power to the dash. No idea why it suddenly had no power after sitting about 6 weeks in my driveway. Thought the batteries were dead, but to my surprise they were down to about 49%, which IMO should have been enough to make the dash come alive.

Anyway, I found the battery booster switch and depressed “reset.” Started the rig up today! Woooo-Hoooo
