Carpenters Campers (Pcola) said there are no RV's being made in 2011 on WH chassis. Is this correct? Don't want to spread incorrect info.

Thudman: we just had a similar discussion here: Winnie & WH

Repeating a portion of it....W-20D and W-22D chassis ARE available to the coach builders. Four Winds "Serrano" is currently built exclusively on the W-20D.

WCC has not announced the replacement GAS motor for the 8.1L, and therefore does not currently offer a front engine GAS chassis AFAIK. I think that is where the false rumors and confusion is coming from.

Perhaps the dealer "meant" to say "brands that we sell" . Ed

I believe there aren't any 2011 Coaches built on the gas Workhorse Chassis as Chevy built their last 8.1 Vortec in December. Just saw a new Coach built on the Workhorse Chassis with the front engine 6.7 DuraMaxx diesel.

WAYNE: the Serrano you saw is powered by the International MaxxForce 7, 6.4L diesel motor...its not a Chevy Duramax. Ed

A bit of Trivia for the 2011 Model year and that is, the 10th digit of the VIN# for "Model Year" will be a "B".

There's no need to fear, Workhorse will still be here.

its a heck of a note, when they run out of numbers and have to fall back on the good old alphabet.

Wanna bet how many of us read that as an eight? Ed

I bet you you're right! 1998 was a good year! But that would have been a "DubYa"...

Makes you wonder why they didn't have a "Z" year ... ... probably looks too much like a "2"

No more Workhorse Gas Chassis, only the Ford? This isn't good news for coach builders but should help the towables....a lot.

-Gramps-, Good News for Ford however that will come to an end as well. Everything is cyclical. What solution would be put forward when they eventually discontinue the V-10? Perhaps No don't say it .... a Power Stroke Diesel !!!! Seems that Workhorse is already there with the MaxxForce7 as a viable option.

Only question remains will FRED rebound with the Cummins? I have not seen where folks are going all out to get a front engine diesel motorhome BUT that said the Four Winds Serrano seems to be doing well.

It just makes my UFO worth all the more...especially to me!

I wonder how the Avanti is doing? It's a nice coach, I visited one while in Elkhart. It was parked inside the Hall of Fame.

-Gramps-, The Damon Avanti is being built on the Freightliner MC-L chassis of some 16,000 pounds of GWW like the W16. The MC-L uses a Cummins engine. The W16 was discontinued because Navistar did not upgrade the emission package on the MaxxForce5 engine PLUS it made a lot more "noise" than a MF7.

In My Blog I wrote: "The 2010 Damon Avanti is now mounted on a Freightliner Chassis called the MC-L. According to recent press, The MC-L is powered by a Cummins® ISB 6.7-liter electronic diesel engine with up to 200 hp and 520 ft. lbs. of torque with an Allison® automatic six-speed transmission, the MC-L offers outstanding power and performance. An up to 50-degree wheel cut allows for superior maneuverability, assisting RV owners as they traverse through urban settings and tight spaces."
