I'm interested to find out if anyone has done a non-oiled CAI? If so, how is it working? What vendor filter did you use? Any increase in fuel mileage/performance? Any pictures?

I would like to do a CAI, but don't want to risk the MAF oil contamination. So any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,

The link will take you to some photos of my modified intake Tuba. I used stock filter and box.

The only reason I think it helps is that it is getting cold air directly thru the grill and with some ram effects. Used all last summer with no rain ingestion issues so far.

M&EM... That's very clever. Have you noticed any performance/mileage improvement?

People use too much oil. The new oiled filter should be just right. I had no problems with my S&B.

Streamerman,

No, I can't say I have noticed any improvement because of the CAI.

Figured it can't hurt.
Gave me access to the a/c recharge fittings.
And gave the radiator a little more access to incoming air.
Non of above seems to be directly measurable--yet.
Didn't want to mess with over oil issues and gave up on purchased CAI--promised/perceived benefits. Mine cost prety close to $0

Hey DriVer,
Hope you haven't drowned from the rain there yet!

How often do the filters need to be cleaned and re-oiled? Or do you just replace them? Sounds expensive to go that route.
Thanks,

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>These filters have a really long service life. Although my filter isn't a K&N they advertise 50,000 miles or something like that depending on what conditions your MH has been subject to. I think I may recharge my filter this summer if I think of it. I recharged the K&N filter I used to have on my PSD Ford but that was out of boredom or just something to do. Recharging the filter is tricky most people will have a tendency to over oil the filter. It simply has be be lightly oiled so it's tacky and that's it. The filter itself will last a long time.
