I have done a search but was unsuccessful at finding any discussion pertaining to my question.

Good friends of ours purchased a 2000 Itasca with the auto park feature but have yet to take delivery. During the test drive we noticed that while in park a buzzer sounded and the "auto park" light illuminated on the dash. The buzzer sounded regardless of whether the yellow auto park button was pulled or not and quit when put into drive. Thinking back, I don't recall the buzzer sounding when the coach was initially started. I thought, possibly, it was a warning that one or more of the leveling jacks were down but having the buzzer sound when put into gear made more sense.
Our friends are looking to purchase the 2006 Workhorse Gas Motorhome Chassis Guide that DriVer recommended in his October 23, 2005 post concerning the APS, but until then any light anyone can shed on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I don't think mine beeps at me when in park but if the yellow button has the brake applied and I put it in gear, then it beeps to let me know the pk. brake is on. You do realize that when you put it in Park position , it is only doing the same thing as the yellow button, don't you.
Are you saying that if you have it in park with the engine running it keeps beeping at you the whole time? I don't think that's right.
Mine beeps at me if I turn the 4 way flashers on. WH has a lot of strange beeps.

No! Say it isn't so!

Yes, thanks to the search function, we now understand they both perform the same function.

That's exactly what I'm saying. It didn't seem to be operating properly to us either. Nothing we did terminated the buzzer. We were hoping we missed something obvious. No?

Thanks for the replies, no matter how humorous.

Tell your friends to RUN not walk away from that unit. The power parking break is a monstrosity that workhorse is well aware of but has refused to rectify on the units that have it.

The power parking break on our 2002 Itasca on a P32 Workhorse left us stranded on the side of the road twice in one year, both times it was a presure switch. Workhorse had us towed both times and paid for the repairs.

Workhorse knows this is a wide spread problem but chooses to only fix it when it fails you on the road and the only if you are inside the three year warranty period.

I've had 3 occurances that the AutoPark had failed in 5 years. All three times it was a pressure switch problem in one or the other of the 2 switches. These switches are a GM part available at any GM dealer. Workhorse dealers don't stock them and you must wait 3-5 days for shipping. I now carry spares of both of them. It takes about 15 minutes to change them with most of the time involved in removing the cover plate. If the switches were only built as well as the cover they would last forever!!

It simply amazes me that this is such a big problem or is it really just the luck of the draw on whether you get a problem child or not? It would seem to me that if it were such a poor design and folks had so much trouble with it that "somebody" would create a bulletin to make it more reliable. I know this has been discussed over and over again to the point that folks are sick and tired of reading about it. Our friends will be taking delivery of the coach in a week and this auto brake, understandable, has him a bit worried.

I'm sitting here thinking to myself that there has to be a way to run a bypass circuit, controlled with a switch, possibly out of sight near the driver, that takes all the "auto" out of the system and, providing the engine is still running, allows the driver to "manually" release the park brake for emergency situations... like getting it out of traffic. I understand this isn't a recommended, safe type of deal, but then neither is sitting on the interstate or a blind corner unable to move your coach.
