We understand that this issue has great importance, however... when discussion threads degenerate into flame fests, we are forced to make these choices. Those threads are still viewable and the content remains. Please respect our decision and help us keep the forum an enjoyable experience for all members.

What’s the best motor oil to use in my 8.1L engine? Should I use an OEM air filter or is after-market okay? If I use 91 octane gasoline, will I get better performance? How long should my spark plugs last? Has anyone installed chrome-tips on their exhaust?

Richard and others the brake issue has been closed because of flaming of people on this board and thru PM's.

The only result I can see is that we should change the brake fluid, clean ABS, lube calipers, and what was brought up by George Z.

His remarks about venting in master cylinder should be discussed further. Its not possible to place his Quote here because of lock down. You will have to go to lock down thread, 2nd one I believe.

When I purchased my WH chassis MH I had some concern about the lost of power,POWER DOWNS, when it rained and placed a post on this forum about it. Come to find out others, as you can see thru link on power downs, had the same concern mostly with the Newmar coaches.
It did become a concern of Newmars also, which produced a cap to be placed on top of the WH tube air intake. Newmar owners had the fix placed on the intake and as time went on we found out it didn't help.
The result of all that action by members was removal of air intake tuba's and placement of CAI'S both bought and home made by members on irv2 and designs produced by Brazels.
So when members get together with a nagging problem we can come up with the answer and without flaming people and showing respect towards people trying to help.

My coach is a 02 WH chassis and to be honest with you I had no concerns about my brakes until reading all the info on the locked down threads. The brake fluid change is one thing I will do this spring its something I was never concern about in both cars and all the MH's I have owned.
The only calipers I ever had freeze on disks was on a Ford F-53 after 6 years of ownership. Until I joined irv2 in 04 maintenence problems never existed in my mind.
That all changed because of what was said by members on this WH forum and irv2.

The MFG's are always changing systems that have always worked to something that will work better ???, at least thats what they tell us, on newer model years only to cause problems in the newer chassis.

The same can be said about ACTI Display board newer coachs have problems my 02 still has the same display. So many coach MFG's had a problem I said it must be something in the way they would wire it, still have not found true answer.

Back to George Z's quote the venting or pressure buildup if possible mention by others maybe something to be looked at. If members when meeting at rally's and different model year coachs compare their master cylinder caps and see if there is a difference between older model years and newer coaches ,WH of course, and Fords compared to WH.

In case you do not know WH pays for this forum on irv2 and I would say they also look to see what we are talking about. The WH chassis has made alot of changes since my 02 came on the market and I think it has to do with member discussions on this WH forum.

My WH chassis has not given me any problems other than the bouncing front end, I will do some more follow work up to keep it that way.

Two comments on the closing of "yet another brake thread"

As I read the original post, it was not a brake thread, but a bunch of folks wanted to hijack it and make it a brake thread.. .I do not blame the moderators for closing it... I would have (If I had the power) and I'd have done it sooner.. alas, I do not have "powers" here.. Elsewhere.. I do, but not on IRV2.

Page 2: I have read the brake threads and I I'm reminded of an old song

I said it over and a over and a over again, this thread is gonna be a drag. (ok, it was "this Dance" in the original

We keep seeing the same things posted by either the same or different people.. Till someone has a solution there is not much sense in running up the page count on the thread.

Page3

People come in here and see these monster 200 page threads (ok, so I exaggerate a bit) and they just skip that one cause it is way too long to read... I know this for a fact.. HOW.. Because I"m one of 'em of course.

Thus when someone DOES post the solution.... It is never seen.

Are there problems with brakes: yes, several

Have they been identified? with one possible exception yes, I say possible because I believe it has been but have no proof.

Have they been resolved? (is there an answer)

1: Yes
2: NO
3: I'm not sure

(The 3 main ones)

I'm not going into detail here but I will state that #2 masquarades as #3, but is different, and it can affect ANY vehicle, not just workhorse, which uses hydraulic brakes

My towed for example (Happened, right front towed) This one is known, but as of yet there is no cure.. Thankfully.. it is rare
