OBD Scanner

Any recommendations regarding OBD scanners? Any particular brand or model good for a W22?
I see some for $20 and others over $100
Bang for the buck?

The ScanGauge2 is a favorite amongst Workhorse owners because it acts as a real time parameter readout as well as a diagnostic code reader. They go for around $160.

BAFX ALDL contector and Torque Pro software

I have a BAFX products OBDII diagnostic interface that plugs into the ALDL.This works on any OBDII from 1996 and newer. Any make or model. The software I use is Torque-pro. You have to purchase the items seperate. The software is quite extensive if the particular Mfg will allow you to connect. It will read all the generic stuff. for example: Wheel speed sensors. Injector pulse width. Cylinder misfire, current and history. And on and on and on. Some of what I mentioned might be Mfg. specific. It has built in accelometer. Displays fault codes then giving you the option on clicking to go to the internet for suggestions on problem diagnostics. Built in GPS. The software is sent to your phone or I-pad. this cost me a staggering amount of less than $30. for both items. Let the forum know what you wind up with. Happy Motoring John

How much do you want to spend.

I have an app on my phone (TORQUE PRO) and a bluetooth OBD-II device..... The APP also lives on my tablet (Don't know if I can put it on the chrome book, it now runs SOME android apps).

IT lets me monitor and reset error codes, and just about every sensor on the engine (if not every sensor)

I also have a Mobily device (Cellular internet device) it will monitor error codes but not the sensors and will nto reset errors.. DO NOT RECOMMEND as obd=II even if it has limited ability.

NOTE: this is the fault of the manufacturer since it has a bluetooh side no reason it coudl not work with Torque save they decided not to allow that.. I'll be dumping that in favor of a 2nd BT-Adapter soon.

I’m sure the ScanGauge is at the top of the heap but for me I’m not so sure I would benefit all that much from the extra $130. I may try the BAFX first. I see more than one model number but will research it.
Thanks all.

I got this Bluetooth OBDII adapter.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also use Torque Pro. Will display a lot of sensors, just having problem with trans fluid temp. Haven't played with it enough so it may just be me.

Consider the possibility that your vehicle might not have a trans temp sender.

I use the Bluedriver along with either my iPhone or iPad. I find it works well and is very compact for traveling. I don't keep it connected all the time and it will display all kinds of information, however to date I have only pulled codes with it.

Will any of these scan gages give the same info the workhorse dash gives? My ditigal readout has the lines going through it. Be a while before I can remove it and get it rebuilt.
