I seen a mobile oil/lube service working next door, so I had them come over and lube and change oil on my coach. (I normally do this myself). After they left, I looked at the bill and they had put 7 quarts of oil in instead of 6.4. Should I drain the 1/2 quart out? or does that 1/2 overfill matter. THanks all.

I would drain it down. I got carried away once and I didn't feel comfortable with the fact that the engine was overfilled given that both the transmission and engine state do not over fill.

Seems to me you need to look at the dipstick to determine actual level, before assuming you have too much.

Sounds like they CHARGED you for 7 qts ( they needed more than 6 ), however that does not necessarily mean they poured it ALL in the engine. ED

I checked dipstick and its right at the very top of the operating range. I looked in the trash and found "7" empty oil containers, so it was 7 qts put in.

If it makes you feel better then drain out a half quart. But, I would leave it alone. There is more than 1 quart of oil up in the engine when it is running.

Just a thought, but if they used other than the GM size filter the 7qt's are right on. I used the NAPA Gold 1060. It holds a full qt and therefore requires the extra 1/2 qt to reach the full mark on the dip stick.

Geechee, that was my thinking to. That LARGE
1qt. filter = 7qt. And I know some people
user the Wix 2qt. filter for a total of 8qt,
Wix pt.# 51794N.......TENN.VOL.

If they installed the long filter you need 7 quarts. The short stock filter takes 6.4 quarts.

I use a long filter and always fill or have filled with 7 quarts.
