I have been parked on jacks for about three weeks. I see some oil seeping down from bottom of Driver side rear outside wheel cover over the tire and to the ground. Not a lot, but enough to stain the tire and the board it is resting on. I don't see oil on the inside of wheel cover so it must crossing over under the wheel cover.
What's going on here and what needs to be done? I am in a rural area and no services nearby. I'll check differential oil tomorrow.
I was told by one guy I called that there is a plastic axle seal that melts and leaks. He said remove the hub and lossen 8 bolts pull out something and put in some kind of axle stuff to make a new seal. Is this something I can do?
Thanks
Sam

You could do what I have seen done so many times. You could install a gasket of make your own using Permatex gasket silicone (blue). They jack up the rig and pull the bolts out of the axle flange. Clean everything real good. Apply a nice bead of Permatex to the mating surface on the hub and carefully restore the axle and tighten the bolts. Still holding fluid and no leaks on my part for the over 4 years since it was done.

Went to garage today to have Axle leak fixed. Found metal shavings in oil. Drained differential no shaving there. replaced a chewed up outer wheel bearing.
Great garage called Gumtown garage in New bethlehem, PA
