Hi all...I'm new to this forum but I hope to learn a lot here..

We are 1 day away from buying a 2007 Winnebago 29' Sightseer, Workhorse chassis, that we just love but the Bosch brake issues are concerning me.
The MH is at a certified Workhorse service center right now being checked out for all mechanicals, so I'm wondering if this one will have a brake issue.

I went in on the Workhorse website for the brake resource center, entered the VIN of the vehicle and got this message "Your VIN is not included."

So does that mean it could still have the same brake issues but is not covered by Workhorse for the recall?!!? That wouldn't be good.

Or does it mean that particular chassis does not have the problem?
(that would be great...we really like the MH)

Any quick info you can advise will be much appreciated!!

Thanks

MoonchaserTX, I'm not going to sugar coat this penitential new sale of a motorhome. What you have here are simply 2 calipers. One old technology and new technology.

At this time the VIN# that you scanned is not a component of the Bosch caliper recall. Now understand that the vehicle you intend on buying has the old style caliper. At some point in time the calipers on this vehicle should be replaced and made to meet the new standard that is being resolved with the release of the new calipers. Exactly how that situation will be resolved is not within my paygrade to forecast however I would not sustain any speculation that Workhorse is going to disown the calipers you have and not remedy the situation. I fully expect that all the old calipers will be replaced.

Now let's get back to the right now. The calipers that are on the new motorhome will work flawlessly for the foreseeable future. It would not be expected that you will have any trouble with those for a number of years IF then. I hope that you intend on running the thing like you stole it, enjoy it to the max and put it away wet! Now that's how you do it!

I do not expect that you will get a better performing motorhome than the one you are considering buying. If you think that this might dissuade you in any way and you might jump brands - take a good look under the other gas powered rig - same calipers.

I am happy for you. Enjoy!

Thanks DriVer..I appreciate you putting it in perspective..I should have added that this is also our first motor home...likely that is obvious, though!

So I hear you saying this rig likely (or definetly??) has the problematic calipers?

MoonchaserTX, In my opinion and until I'm proven incorrect about the conclusion that I have arrived at, I am going with the assumption that if the motorhome was built before the release of the "NextGen" caliper than I would say it has the old calipers.

Are you in time going to get the new calipers after the recall has rolled out? I expect that you are but the difference is that you don't have to be in any rush to complete the recall. These things are not going to fail at the flick of a switch.

If it comes to light that the VIN# on the rig you are looking at is really NOT a component of the recall since you've used the resource to scan the VIN#, then I certainly do stand corrected.

Please consider joining us in the Workhorse Chat Room at 9:00PM Eastern where I will take some more questions about this issue.
