Yesterday the DW drug me back to the winnebago dealer to look at a 38J,again.While she was inside i was out side.To my surprise when I looked thru the grill I saw two cooling fans mounted infront of the AC condenser.Has WH added the fans back or is this just a 2006 chassis.I asked the saleman who was trailing us about the fans and he didnt know what I was talking about.Im going back up next sunday to check the build date on the chassis but would like a little AMO when we get there. When we order the 38J with the cool pack is amust.

What you were looking at was a 2006 year model with the auxiliary cooling fans. The 2007 chassis will be absent cooling fans. You can immediately by looking at the 10th character in the VIN#. The 10th digit is the model year. If it's a "6" then it's a 2006. It is very likely that buyers get an 06 chassis under an 07 coach because there is a gap of just about 30 to 40 days before both sync up.

On a coach like Winnebago the deliveries are pretty quick since they sell a lot of motorhomes. At Lazy Days I saw a few 07 chassis with the absent cooling fans.

In Louisville last December I saw the new Fleetwood X2 Toyhauler combo with the new cool pack configuration.

If you download the "Chassis Guide" from this forum you will see how all the VIN# digits break out. Please note that the 10th digit should be a 7 for a 2007 year model chassis.

Well now, I'm a bit confused. I have a '05 Bounder and it has two large cooling fans mounted in front of the radiator. These don't run all the time, just when the temperature sensor calls for them. Does this mean I have the "cool pack" option? Or, are these fans just part of the normal cooling train of the 8.1?

The 2007 chassis have been redesigned to mimic the UFO cool pack and the company has changed it's manufacturing specifications for the cool pack and what is common to the UFO crosses over to the W-Series as well.
