I managed to lose my generator cover somewhere along the road. Anybody know where I might buy a used one from a scrapped generator? Manual says it will overheat if I run it without a cover.

Yes that's very true don't run the generator without it.

I got a call back from a local Onan dealer mechanic. He said don't run for more than about 20 minutes or less else major heating problems.
Tomorrow I call Onan and order a new cover.

You might try RV salvage yards as well. Here's just one I found but there are many out there.

Good luck.

When I got my coach Tiffin had put a one inch self tapping screw on the left side of the generator cover aoubt an inch from the side so it will screw into the rail housing of the generator. When I asked why it was needed they said that allot of generator covers end up missing due to driving over rough roads, ie: I-10.

The Onan guy automatically included new grommets in the parts list. That tells me I'm not the only guy who's had the problem. I will definitely add a self tapping screw. Cheap insurance to save $100.
