One-person brake bleeder

Hey guys-

I have flushed the brake fluid on my vehicles using the vacuum bleeder from Groits; 05 3/4 Sierra, 04 Wrangler and my 05 Workhorse. I started with the jeep thinking it was the easiest to tow if I messed it up and progressed to the motorhome. The device works great. One thing that is nice is being able to suck out the old fluid from the reservoir, especially on the mh the way it is jammed up under the dash.

I recall reading comments in a post on here about this device and the air-bubbles that are visible while pulling down new fluid. This air is originating from the threads of the bleed screw. So long as you time the opening of the bleed screw and only open and close while vacuum is applied, there is little to no chance of introducing air into the system.

I thought about the speed-bleeders, but was concerned about this system because there is a risk of introducing air into the lines from the threads on the bleeder when pressure is removed while bleeding; ie foot off the brake. This risk is mitigated by the application of thread sealant as recommended by the manufacturer. As you loosen the bleeder, the risk increases of introducing air. Couple the risk of air introduction with breaking off a speed-bleeder and having to send the caliper away for repair and it was not worth it to me.

For my $40 the vacuum system works great and has paid for itself.

I bought the same system to comapre it against one I got from Harbor Freight.



Needless to say they both work. But, the one from Groits needs an air source. You could have saved $20 and got the same thing from Harbor Freight.


Speed Bleeders work as designed... with no air leakage. Even if you bleed you brakes yearly it would take a least 4 years before you would have renew the thread sealant.
