My impression of Workhorse is neutral. I have had no personal experience with the company. My coach is pushing five years old and 30k miles and not been to the shop once. I do all scheduled maintenance myself, including bleeding the brakes. The chassis performs as expected, is reliable and I do not think about it.
If someone asked me if I would purchase a used or new motorhome with a Workhorse chassis, I would tell them absolutely and without hesitation. I recommend Workhorse.
This forum has degraded to the point of being useless. I have never read so much bashing of a company and useless information. I appreciate there are owners that are frustrated over a brake recall, but there is such as thing a eating your own baby. Filtering out Workhorse bashing, I still find maintenance hints, which are appreciated.
I hope this calms down, but considering the typical motorhome owner (grumpy old men that have nothing to do but complain), this is an impossible customer to satisfy.
Good luck to you Workhorse, but it looks like I will have an orphaned coach because of this.

Surfride, I feel the same way you do about workhorse. It is a great chassis. I much prefer it to the Freightliner and P30 I had previously. I don't think this recall will cause us to have orphan rvs.

It sounds to me that the brake caliper problem that Workhorse owners are experiencing is pretty severe. First, for those with the problem, it involves the safety of the owners and their families; second, their very expensive motorhomes are sitting in the driveway waiting for Workhorse to fix the problem. I would say the basis for the complaints of these “grumpy old men” are very legitimate since they are missing out on the summer seanson. I think the last sentence in your post says it best:

You don't seem to have the brake caliper problem, and I'm happy for you that you don't. So look at it this way, since you do all the work on your chassis yourself you wouldn't miss Workhorse if it did go out of business.

Surfride... If you have a 5 year old Workhorse.. You need to check for recalls.. There should be 2, one is serious and can cause a sudden engine fire.
NOTE: not all 5 year old Workhorse chassis coaches have that one.. Mine did. I had the oil changed and the clip replaced same day so I did not need to make a "Trip" to the shop, was there already.
There is kind of a funny story about that job... But I've posted it a few times around here already. I get really great service at that Authorized service center now days.

Surfride, if you have not yet done so, go to the WH website and register your MH with the info they request. The process takes only minutes and you see all past recall notices that might apply to your coach. You can also verify if your VIN is among those that will fall under the current brake recall process when it begins.
You are correct. By filtering out the WH crap, there is a lot of real good and useful information here on the forum.
Like others I too like the WH chassis. Mine has served me very well, but as you know it takes regular maintenance to keep it in shape.
The problem we "grumpy old men" have is the manner exhibited by WH and the lack of full disclosure and communication by them. It makes me somewhat sad to see how WH is destroying itself.
I have met many WH employees at a rally's and spoke with a design engineer about their chassis. As a customer, I proudly helped promote their UFO chassis with a video taped interview that was shown across the nation. So now when I see how we are treated by WH on this brake issue, it frankly troubles me....their management is committing suicide.

Less than 2K out of the more than 45K chassis built have reported brake problems. Allthuogh this is relativly a small number it is serious to the people who have had problems and the people who beleive they are going to have problems. As far as those that have not had any problems and are afraid to drive there MH you could get hit by a car while crossing the street (it happens every day to hundreds of people) are you going to quit crossing the street. Be aware of your suroundings and enjoy every day. Lifes to short to live with a negative additude.

An unfortunate but true statement. When one looks at the topics list, remove all those connected with brake recalls, you get a very short list now. Remember the good old days when UltraPower dominated this forum. I guess folks on most forums think the glass really is half full, irrespective of what the topic may be. The sale of Life Is Good t shirts would not be real strong here or on RV.Net.
