Overheating Brake Light Switch

I have a 2003 Hurricane on a workhorse chassis. While doing some trouble shooting on a reduced engine power issue under the dash. I had the MH running at the time. I got burned by bumping the metal brake light switch assembly. This unit was hot enough to boil water. Could the engine reduced power problem be related to this overheating brake light switch?
I've taken this MH on 2 trips and have had 2 brake downs. The last problem was the ignition switch, which I had repaired.
I did just fill up my gas tank 10 miles before the reduced engine power came on, and stopped me along the highway.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Brake light switch ? Or brake / gear shift interlock solenoid ?
The interlock solenoid , is part of the mechanism that holds the gear shift in park , until your foot is on the brake. It is active and will stay that way till you shift into gear. So long time idling in park , it will get hot.
If you chock the wheels and idle in neutral it should cool off.
Loss of power after a fill up , suspect bad fuel, have you changed the fuel filter?
Did the check engine light come on?
Do you have an OBD II code reader?

I'm new to motor homes and never even knew about the gear shift interlock solenoid. I'll bet that where the heat is being generated. I will try your suggestion and chock the wheels and put it in neutral, and then recheck the switch.
On the other problem my check engine light did come on at first. But after the third time I restarted the motor the light was off, and I was able to make it home. I did put a reader on but I didn't get any codes. But all I have is a cheap reader from harbor freight.
I am planning to change the filter if I can find out the part number..
Does anyone know a part number for the fuel filter on a 2003 four winds Hurricane with a GM 8.1 workhorse chassis?

If you're going to change the fuel filter, you will be better off buying the adapter from Oemy's Web Site - Fuel Filter Adpater. It allows you to use standard AC Delco GF 652 filter rather than the special one from Workhorse.

2003 probably does not need the adapter. I don't think they started using the fuel return line and 3-port filter until 2004.

ewg1022 - If your fuel filter looks like the one below (Oemy - hope you don't mind I "borrowed" your picture of the filter) with the extra port on the side of the outlet, you need a GF652 filter AND an adapter (see Oemy's website). If not, you need just a GF652 (or equivalent) filter. GF652 is an AC Delco part number.

The 2003 doesn't take the adapter. I was able to get a good look at the filter today. Is this filter under pressure? Can I just unscrew it laying under it?

It may be.

Depends on time passed since last time ignition key was turned on.

There will still be some seepage as the filter lines are removed so be prepared with some rags under the fittings and use gloves.

If your engine hasn't been run for a couple of days, there shouldn't be much pressure left in the fuel line. There will, however, probably be some fuel drain back, so have some rags or paper towels handy, and don't lay directly under the filter. Expect maybe a cup of fuel.
