While sitting on my back porch, looking at my M/H. And nothing eles to do, I googled oxygen sensors. Lots of info. What I did see, there are different types. And the expected life of a sensor. It states that a "non heated sensor will last from 30k to 50k miles, while the heated will last 100k miles. As I have 52k miles on mine, the question for the experts is; What type do we have on the 8.1L? I looked through the wiring dig. and did not see anything on the O2 sensor. If we have the nonheated type; Would it be wise to change the sensors out before they fail? Or should I just sit here and watch the rain come down?

I expect that Oemy has the O2 sensor info that you are looking for on his website. That said, don't break it if it ain't fixed and just check out that rain!

I changed my O2 sensors as a pair cause 1 was busted but you'll know when you need to change them. My mileage dropped like a rock! Further testing via Tech II confirmed that there was a bad O2 sensor.

Enjoy the rain now and when you have time again, have Autozone do the reading on obd, should show sensors, if there is a problem it will let you know. I saw a lot of black soot out the tailpipe from a failed sensor, unit was too new to me to know what the mileage should be.

I have done the OBD thing and all is OK. I was just thinking I did not want to get to the "Roadkill Cafe" somewhere out in the boonies and need an O2 sensor. BTW it has stopped raining

Source the O2 sensor and maybe a throttle position sensor too and serpentine belt and plugs and wires etc... buy them and tuck them away in your storage.

They won't take up much room and when you *do* need them, no mater when or where that might be... you'll have them.

not sure, but i think if it has 3 wires going to it it is heated. 2 wire is not.
if one goes bad you should get a " check engine light."

I ran a Tech II scan and it showed both 02 sensors with a low voltage code & NO check engine light !! I used Oemys info and went to auto zone. The only problem is locating the correct wiring plug. Good Luck JP
