Hello to everyone...Have some questions about the famed auto park brake... Problem is put the the coach in park and it wants to roll down the road. What i have replaced as of now, The awful green switch the reservoir is full of fluid. The reason behind changing the awful green switch was because of the research Ive done to this point. The awful green switch was saturated in fluid. And the dash lite now shuts off when put into gear as it did not before. Its just wont hold in park. Any and all help is truly appreciated...

Thank you

I have the same problem with my P-30 1996 Allegro Bay. How did you repair it? was it something that you were able to repair on your own or did you take it to a shop?

Oldusedbear is the acknowledged EXPERT on all things related to the AAPB on the P series chassis. If you contact him thru the link provided above he can and WILL help you, free of charge. It is all done thru emails because the file sizes are too large to be handled here in the forums. Good luck. Ed

Oldusedbear's health is not the best considering his age... Also, his wife has Alzheimer's and he is now a care giver.

Send me a PM with your email or emails for those who are having issues and I will forward all emails Roger(oldusedbear) sent me. I have the diagnostics, the driving light setup to tell if your system is about to lock up and the instructions for adjusting the drum brake after you replaced the RGS ( rotten green switch). Roger you and the DW will be in my prayers tonight. Thanks for the help
Ron

Very sorry to learn about Roger's situation. He has been a vital resource for many years and has probably helped hundreds, if not thousands, of people with AAPB problems. I hope someone will be able to continue his legacy if the time comes when he is no longer able to do all the heavy lifting.

Roger, you and your wife will be in my prayers also. Ed

Shirkinator, sounds like you have the same problem I have. First I measured the actuator cable travel (in and out position) and found it was traveling over 1 ¼”. Now I'm at the point of crawling under the unit to move the daisy wheel in the drum.

Anyone tried this ?

Brazel’s UltraStop P-32 Air-Operated Park Brake Prevents Problems Found on Hydraulic Units

Summary: The UltraStop Park Brake is a new, innovative park brake system for the Chevrolet and Workhorse P-32 chassis that is air-operated, and does not use hydraulics found in factory units. UltraStop simplifies the park brake system by using an air source and replaces the problem of leaky hydraulic fluid components. The unique design of the UltraStop Park Brake incorporates a release tool mounted on the unit that releases the park brake should a failure occur within the actuator, thus preventing brakes from being automatically applied. This averts major damage and eliminates subsequent factory repairs, towing bills, or the routine replacement of factory switches. UltraStop is sold at Brazel’s RV Performance Center …

At this point you need to check the bands in the brake drum if the machine is rolling in park .... I would expect!
