I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer. This might be a long thread so please bear with me. On Saturday, my family andsome friends decided to go to a local amusement park. Instead of taking 2 vehicles, we decided to take MH. Traffic was crazy (lots of little league world series players decided to go also). The last 8 miles was major stop and go. took about 45 minutes to last 8 miles. Got to the park and noticed some smoke and smelled brakes. Check wheels and front passenger rim was hot! Allowed MH to cool for about 3 hours, lifted front end and spun tire. A little drag, but wheel made about 7-10 revs freely. Cant rip in apart here so i thought it would be fine to go home. On way home, Stoped about every 20 mile and checked. everything was fine. No heat in rim. This morning, took tire off and removed caliper. Brakes look good. Rotor is fine. Caliper looks good. Absolutely no sign of any burning or heat. Lots of brake dust on rim. I cleaned everything. Looks good. My question is, Is there a way to test the caliper to see if it is sticking? the caliper is only 4 years and 20,000 miles old. Also it is not the Bosch caliper that everyone is having problems with.

This is on a 2002 Brave. 18,000 pound GVW

Thanks,

Keith

Two things come to mind here...

1.) Have you kept up-to-date on flushing your entire brake system? (~ every 2 years)

2.) If you have the same brakes as my P-32, have you lubed your slide pins?

Good Luck!

I have not done either but will being doing both TODAY!!! I removed the caliper completely and can push the cylinders in fairly easily. Maybe I got lucky and somebody up above was telling me it was time to flush and lube!!
