Chevy "P" Chassis'
I Just bought a 1994 Winnebago Vectra 33' W/454 in it. The VIN# is 1GBKP37M0R3306784. Can anyone tell me exactly what the VIN# is telling me? Is it P30,P32.P37 or what. Where can I download a manual for it? At the Winnebago website the manual only mentions the motorhome part.
This is my first Winny. I previously owned 2 GMC's 2Georgieboys and an Alfa SeeYa.

I tried two different vin check websites and both state the above number is invalid.

That is a GM P32 chassis. The "3" in the sixth position confirms this as a fact. The tenth vin position is code for the model year, but I'm not sure if "R" is for 1993 or 1994. "1GB" = GM
Don't be mis-led by the "P37" because the chassis model is NOT included in the vin #, except by the code digit in position 6, which is either a "3" or a "5" to indicate P32.
If you go back to the start of this thread, you will see most of this was already discussed.

Greetings to you as well, Rabbi. Welcome to iRV2.com and the Workhorse forum.
From your vin number I can tell you have a GM/Chevy P32 chassis, probably from the mid-1990's but I cannot tell what coach builder made your motorhome. Since you are seeking info about coach-related items, I suggest you post your questions in the appropriate brand's owner forum, also here on iRv2.com.
If you have any chassis-related questions, you are in the right forum for those. Again, WELCOME!
Ed

2006 Damon Daybreak 3060w which transmisssion etc.?
I realize this is an old thread but it is definitely on topic for me. I'm new here (1st post) so forgive me if I'm not following proper protocol.
I just put a deposit on my first RV Vin # 5B4LP57G9433xxxxx and plan to pick it up in 4 days.
From what I've researched I have a Workhorse P32 frame (even though the carfax states it's a 2004 Workhorse P30.) I also am pretty sure I have the Chevy Vortex 8100 (8.1L) gas engine. I'm not sure if I have a Chevy transmission or the Allison 6 speed. Any thoughts? From what I read I have the impression the Allison may be the better option?
Also a brochure on this model shows the chassis as a Workhorse W16. Not sure why there's a difference but expect the carfax info is what I tend to believe.

Yes you have an 8.1L Vortec engine. You also have a GM 4L85E - 4 speed automatic transmission as well.
The Allison transmission was provided in Model W20 chassis with GVW ratings of 20,700 lbs and greater.

This is just a great post. I hope it still is going. I just purchased a 1999 Isata on a GM/Workhorse Chassis called a CTP41442. The vin # is 1GBJP32RXX3304477. I was told by Workhorse that it was a 'commercial' chassis, not a 'motor home ' chassis. The GVWR is 12000#. It has a 5.7 chevy MPFI engine coupled to a 4speed automatic, problably a 480LE. The Wheel Base is 192". I'm not sure what the difference is between a 'commercial chassis' and a 'motor home' chassis other than in the motor home chassis the driver sits a little further forward. Someone told me that my chassis does not have bell cranks like the motor home chassis does, and that everything is lighter duty. Would appreciate any help.

The workhorse motorhome chassis came with a 8.1 liter engine and the 4L85E transmission.

That’s a bit of a rare duck you have there. P42 step van chassis with a motor home plunked on top, it must be a short little coach.

SOPPY: Sorry, but your statement isn't correct and could mis-inform other readers. It would be correct if you included the word "some" before the word Workhorse in you post.
In fact, Workhorse began production of the P32 chassis in 1999, and those chassis have the 454 cubic inch GM V-8 and the GM 4L80-E tranny. The 8.1L engine was introduced with the 2001 model year, and so was the W series chassis that used the Allison 5 speed MH1000 tranny. Only the P32 series chassis continued to use the GM tranny, and the 4L85-E was used in "some" of them, depending on GVWR, until they stopped making the P32 chassis after the 2005 model year. After that, ALL Workhorse gas MH chassis have an Allison tranny and 8.1L GM V-8.
