Hello I have a 2000 National Seabreeze
the problem I'm having is that when I pull the yellow parking brake lever to set the electric parking brake I can hear the brake engage but it seems like it needs to be adjusted because the rv tends to roll away if the ground is not level. so my question is how can I adjust this parking brake?
Thank you

I have chased my coach on foot as it left the fuel island with parking brake "ON" and engine off. Wheel chocks are in order for you.

Chief, Have you not been able to adjust your parking drum on your vehicle? You seem quite capable of performing this task. I expect that the shoes in the drum need adjustment would you not agree. I have not owned a P series so I don't have a lot of hands on with these rigs.
Like Oemy suggested OldUsedBear is the resident expert with the J71 system. He recently save Depchief a couple of hundred bucks I expect when he offered how to R&R one the 2 hydraulic switches, this one located close to the drum brake.

Sure do. And did. But this is a friction device operated by two cables separated by a torque multiplier. If there has been a sudden unintentional application of the AAPB when the coach is at speed the friction material is subjected to a great amount of wear. Also there is a nylon sheath within the cable that when subjected to the high heat generated during application at speed, will bind up the brake mechanism, causing total wear-down of the brake shoes. So, after any application of the AAPB while the coach was in motion, the brake drum with shoes and the immediately attached cable ought to be inspected for wear and or heat damage. It must be remembered that this is a parking brake. IT IS NOT AN EMERGENCY BRAKE! Finally, there is a conventional ratchet wheel adjuster inside the drum and there is provision for adjusting the cables. However, the shoes have very little friction material, even when new. Again, this was not meant to stop a moving coach. Good luck to all my brothers and sisters who have J71 AAPB's!!
