parking brake won't lock on
On my 2004 Infinity MH, workhorse chassis the parking brake will not lock in place. It used to but just stopped. You can manually hold the brake pedal down so the jacks & slides can be used, after chocking the wheels. I can't see what would allow the pedal to lock..Any ideas on this??

are you talking about a foot-applied PB like on most W series, or an AAPB like on the P32?

if you have the foot pedal such as on the w20 chassis with a drive shaft drum brake, do a forum search for the procedure to adjust the brake cable at the brake drum.
i wrote some of the threads.
you will need a new cotter pin.
when you release the parking brake, do not let the foot pedal return with a bang. that will mess up the parking brake switch.

Ed: Yes it is the foot applied pedal for the parking brake. When depressed it will not lock in place.

tomHO2871,
Make sure the release mechanism for the parking brake is not binding. It may be that the release is not returning to its normal position. I would try cycling the release knob a few times first. Under the dash can get pretty cluttered and cause obstructions to the release path of the mechanism.
I am assuming the parking brake is adjusted correctly, (not too tight).

I have kicked the "release lever" somehow and the rod bent to the point of not returning. Just bend it back.

I thought I had your problem......until I pressed down on the brake REALLY HARD. It locked into place and released OK.
