I was just over at the WorkHorse website to update my details. While browsing their website I noticed no mention of the W22 and W24 chassis. Did WH stop making them? Didn't see anything about the UFO chassis either.

The 8.1 engine is gone so the chassis went away also.

So what are they putting under Class "A" motor homes?

From WH it appears just the W20 with a diesel. Ford appears to be the chassis of choice for gas mh's.

To bad, the W24 is a very good chassis. Did GM stop making the 8.1 or just stop selling them to Navistar/Workhorse.

Thanks for the link. Now, not only do we have an orphan coach (National), we have an orphan Chassis. Wonder how that would affect the re-sale value when we get ready to trade.

IMO, the true definition of the term "orphan", as used regarding RVs, is that the OEM is OUT OF BUSINESS and no longer exists to support the product they made.

That is true of OEMs like Country Coach, National RV, Alpa (See Ya- how ironic!), Western Rec. (Alpine coach) and many others. However, this sad news about the closing of the Union City, IN assembly line does not mean that Workhorse chassis have become orphaned, IMO. That will only be true if Navistar shuts down the entire Workhorse organization, including the parts department and service staff. I can only HOPE this does happen.

Apparently my plan to keep them in business by purchasing my 2nd WCC powered MH was not enough! Ed

True enough, at least workhorse, for the moment, is still around. Parts, I'm sure, will be harder to get as time goes on.

Rick, About parts availability, Uptime would just as soon turn around a parts order as quickly as they can. Nobody wins if a customer has to wait for weeks or months to get part. The biggest problem about parts is sometimes the little minor mickey mouse clip that holds the whole kick and caboodle together. If the small parts supplier was displaced due to the most recent and on-going economic down turn, the component supplier has to find an alternate source for mickey mouse clips and all the while Uptime is waiting to ship parts orders.

There are challenges at every level to overcome in order for us to get a part that we need to get back on the road.

Sounds like supply chain problems we all have. Thanks for the Reply!

I don't know the real answer.. but, I heard a few RVers talking the point on the last trip we attended. They said it had to do with the Federal Government buying GM. They forced GM to quit building the gas hogs.

I haven't seen this in writing.. but, sounds feasible.

I thought GM still offered the 8.1 in the truck line but I'm obviously wrong.
Thanks for the info.
