I currently have a 2005 22k WH chassis with the Michilin XRV 235/80 22.5 tires that need replaced. As most of us have found out Michilin is the only maker of that size tire (that I have found). Why WH would install and recommend a tire only made by one source is beyond me.
I have read that some have changed to different tire brands and use a 245/75 22.5. I have looked at the specs and measurements and it appears my duals would be about 10mm or aprox.3/8" closer together with the 245 tire. I measured the current distance I now have with the 235 XRV tires at the narrow (bulge) point and with the motorhome some what loaded. I only have about 1 3/8" spearation between tires. If I use the 245 tire that would only leave 1" speration. Is this what others have experienced? Is 1" enough?
Just curious if maybe the XRV sidewall has more flex than other brands.

kstrails, Because Michelin XRV, XZA & XZE are quite possibly the best OEM tires that can be installed on most any motorhome chassis. OEMs choose to install specific size Michelins tires because they meet or exceed the specifications for the current build of chassis that is being manufactured.

I'd recommend that you stay the course with Michelins. Many others here have and of course many others have chosen competitively priced tires that work well for them. The choice is yours.

You can do a search for "tire size" in this forum. It is a very popular subject and there have been many solutions that have been used to meet the several owner needs that exist out there. Good luck.

What happens when Michelin decides to stop production of a this tire size, then what tire and size do you use.
This size of tire is not used that much except for the RV industry.
The 245/75 22.5 is much more common and you have several tire companies to choose from.

These tires have been in production for over 10 years. In my opinion, they are not going to discard this market segment of owners by discontinuing the 235/80 22.5. This size replacement tire will continue to be produced for quite some time.

That's very true. Ford F53 uses the same size too.

That also appears to be true.
