After you have replaced the Dex cool with the standard Preston type antifreeze, what test can you do or have done that will assure you that it was properly done correctly ?

GM says don't do it. Hopefully they flushed it out good. If it keeps the level, radiator and recovery jug and runs cool maybe all is well.

I don't know why you would replace the DexCool with the green stuff. Lots of folks are misinformed about the DexCool related to all engines when the recall and class action was for the smaller V6 etc type engines plugging up manifold.

travel,

To answer your question...When I changed mine to the "green stuff" I let the engine run for quite a while, let it cool completly, then removed the radiator cap to check the level. I checked the level the same way the next few times I drove it to make sure there hadn't been any air pockets. I don't rely just on the overflow levels as they can be misleading. I had mixed emotions about changing as I'm not convinced it's better, but I know I'm going to change it every 2 years so the long life was not an issue.

Good luck,

Dave
