pertaining to recall 50901-c, if i remove all the calipers and pins, polish the pins and bushings, install new rubber dust boots, and grease liberally with the proper grease that won't swell the dust boots, will this cure the intermittent caliper sticking problem? It's only done it one time on the left rear, after cooling off hasn't done it since. Sure hate to have to wait for the recall to come through to use my rv!

First, let me welcome you to iRV2.com. We are glad you joined and posted.

Since the recall is being done due to the pistons swelling inside the caliper bores, I don't think any of your proposed work will "fix" the problem. Many of them are good PM items, but I suggest you replace the fluid first, and then consider doing some of your other items if so inclined. ED

I have recently read the articles showing the problem is with the pistons actually swelling inside the calipers. I appreciate your help anyhow.

There are TWO caliper sticking problems.. One of them is the pins are a bit too tight, and if they get dirty, then the OUTSIDE pad sticks.

The other is the piston is made of the wrong stuff... And if it draws moisture it will swell a bit.. add heat (from normal braking) and it swells more.. and then it jams in the caliper.

Nothing at all you can do to fix that one till they come out with new calipers made with the RIGHT STUFF.. which should be about next month.

No It will not solve the problem. Been there and done that and had another failure 4-6 weeks later. If that were the answer there probly wouldnt be a recall.

Join the rest of us who have parked our RVs until they are safe to drive. The official word I got from the factory on one of my calls was to just pull over for an hour and let them cool down and then continue.
